Rapid progress on theHalo: The Master Chief CollectionPC Port continues at 343 Industries, with the team recently releasingHalo 2in mid-May. Now the team’s attention has turned toHalo 3. In 343’s latest update for theHalocommunity, community support Postums provided a report on the status ofHalo 3and what’s coming next. As probably isn’t surprising to PCHalofans anymore, things appear to be progressing faster than may be expected.

Postums starts by acknowledging thatHalo 3is a huge game and might be the most anticipated game in the entire collection.Halo 3introduced Theater and Forge modes, as well as popularHalogame types likeGrifballand Infection. While it may seem like Postums was hintingHalo 3may take some time to get ready for PC, the opposite is true. Postums confirms thatHalo 3public flighting is “on the horizon.”

He didn’t leave it there, however. Testing forHalo 3is confirmed to start in the first half of June. It won’t include access to the fullHalo 3release, however, as Postums says, there’s a lot of game inHalo 3and it’ll be easier to test it in slices. The first slice will be made available toHalo Insiders on PC, so those interested in playing should go register and make sure their profile is updated as soon as possible.

The JuneHalo 3test flight will have a fairly limited scope. The goals of the flight, according to the update, are testing 343’s ability to launch the big game at all so much as to test the game itself. It’ll also be testing changes to the game, like343’s updateto its Challenges system that will also be employed forHalo 3.

As for exactly what content will be available in the firstHalo 3flight, 343 has provided a list. For single-player, the missions Sierra 117, The Storm, The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo will be available. A diverse range of Social Games, Competitive, andHalo 3Multiplayer modeswill be available. Some options are 4v4 Team Hardcore and Team Slayer, as well as 2v2 Team Doubles, as well as 8-player FFA, 12-player Infection, and 8v8. 343 also confirmed Forge and Theater for this flight.

While the flight certainly seems substantial, that just goes to show how muchHalo 3content there really is. It’s just enough for 343 to really putHalo 3through all of the testing needed to prepare for launch. Clearly, 343 is aiming for gettingHalo 3out fully on PCas soon as possible.
