Items are the flesh and blood of ARPGs, and the same is true forLast Epoch. You won’t make it far if you don’t pick and choose gear that synergizes with the build you’re using for your character. Theuniquetier of items offers powerful bonuses that enhance specific playstyles, making them the core pieces of many builds.
AvariceandGambler’s Fallacyare two early game uniques that can help make the early acts fly by much quicker. The catch here is that you can only choose one per campaign. If you’re wondering which one fitsyourLast Epochcharacter better, here’s a quick guide going over both items and how to get them.
How to Get Avarice and Gambler’s Fallacy
These unique items can be found in Act 2, during the early stretches of the Ruined Era arc. After you teleport into this bleak future, you’ll eventually reach the Last Refuge, a hub area that also houses an NPC where you canrespec your skill points inLast Epoch. Here, you’ll find Elder Erza, an NPC offering a sidequest called Erza’s Ledger.
This quest involves going to a side area and grabbing the eponymous elder’s ledger. Simply enter Erza’s Library as marked on your map, then head to the designated area while slaughtering every cultist and void monster you find along the way. Once you have the ledger, head back to the Council Chamber.
You’ll get Avarice only if you complete the Erza’s Ledger quest. If you wantGambler’s Fallacy, you’ll need totalk to Artem firstinstead of Erza and give the elder’s ledger to him.
Avarice is a set of unique gloves that lets you regenerate health by dealing Elemental damage while also giving you a bit of Elemental Resistance. This is great if you’re playing a squishy character like the Mage who mostly deals Elemental damage, but not so much if you’re using a Physical or Void-based classlike the Sentinel. Pick this if you find yourself dying often in the early game.
Gambler’s Fallacy, on the other hand, is a little confusing. Based on our testing, it guarantees acritical hit every four seconds after your last crit. Once you do land a crit, your critical hit chance (as shown on your stats screen) will be halved. This is great early on if you have less than a 10% chance to critically strike, but it loses effectiveness once you start getting good gear.
