The world ofHunter x Hunterhas been established marvelously by Yoshihiro Togashi. With a massive world, a compelling story, and incredible characters,it is no surprise that the series is a fan favorite.

As expected of a Shonen story,Hunter x Hunterhas quite a lot of powerful characters. These characters have, over the years, demonstrated their abilities to the fullest and won the fans' hearts. However, at the same time, there exist a few who, while not as popular among the fans, are quite powerful. These characters are certainly the most underrated ones in the story so far.
8Knov
Knov was introduced to the fans in the Chimera Ant arc ofHunter x Hunter. Known to be a seasoned Hunter, he was brought to the NGLby Netero with the aim of exterminating the Ants. Unfortunately, the King’s aura was such that Knov couldn’t bring himself to fight. However, that’s not to say that he is weak.
His nen abilities, such as Hide and Seek and Scream prove to be incredibly useful throughout the arc. Without Knov, the palace invasion would certainly not have been possible. Fans also have not seen him at his very best. Without a doubt, he is one of the most underrated characters in the series.
7Morel
Just like Knov, Morel was brought to the NGL by Isaac Netero to help exterminate all the Ants. While his partner certainly didn’t engage in combat, Morel did. Throughout the arc, he showed how skillful a user of nen he truly was. Morel’s abilities, such as Purple Haze, allowed him to combat the likes of the Squadron Leaders and even the Royal Guard of Meruem.
He held Shaiapouf in combat for quite a while, which is a feat in itself. Undoubtedly, Morel is one ofHunter x Hunter’s underrated characters.
6Bisky
Biscuit Kruger, also known as Bisky, is one of the very few Nen Masters inHunter x Hunter. She is known to be a Double Star Stone hunter, which just goes to show that she is quite a proficient Hunter. Bisky’s control over Nen is such that she can impart the knowledge of the skill to others, such as Wing, Gon, and Killua.

At her full power, she can easily defeat the majority of nen users in a single blow.The true extent of her abilities has not been seen yet, however, she’s certainly incredibly powerful and doesn’t often get the credit for it.
5Kite
Kite was introduced very early in theHunter x Huntermanga, whereas in the anime he made his debut during the Chimera Ant arc. Known to be a student of Ging, Kite is an excellent Hunter with a terrific nen ability up his sleeve.
During the Chimera Ant arc, Kite exterminated some of the most powerful Ants in NGL. However, he ended up falling to Neferpitou. This, in turn, often sees him get underrated. The truth is, Kite is an excellent Hunter and his powers are certainly not to be trifled with.
4Leorio
Leorio is one of the main characters inHunter x Hunter. Introduced at the very beginning of the story, Leorio becomes great friends with Gon, Kurapika, and Killua. He is, without a doubt, the weakest of the group and often acts like a coward.
However, when push comes to shove, Leorio displays his true strength. After the Chimera Ant arc, he showed the skill to use Emission-based nen abilities. While he might not be among the strongest, it must be noted that even Hisoka let him live, which he normally doesn’t do with people he sees no potential in.
3Knuckle
Introduced in the Chimera Ant arc, Knuckle is one of the most powerful young Hunters in the story. He is known to be Morel’s apprentice and thus, carries tremendous potential. In terms of nen, he is extremely skilled and with his Emission techniques, he could even defeat Gon when the two traded blows with one another.

During the Palace Invasion, he took on Menthuthuyoupi in combat and, although he lost, he fared extremely well against him. Knuckle will only grow stronger in the future and is definitely an underrated character.
2Shoot
Just like Knuckle, Shoot was introduced to the fans during the Chimera Ant arc. He is the partner of Knuckle and is a disciple of Morel as well. Shoot is known to be a Beast Hunter and, as such, his prowess with nen is quite good.
He was able to take on Killua in battle and defeat him. Furthermore, during the Palace Invasion, he took on Menthuthuyoupi with the help of Knuckle. While Shoot isn’t necessarily as strong as Knuckle, he is still an excellent Hunter and one who will grow even stronger in the future.
1Alluka (Nanika)
Nanika is an entity from the Dark Continent that possesses Killua’s sister, Alluka. It is, quite possibly, one of the most dangerous powers to exist in the story. Despite the Zoldyck Familyhaving some terrific fighterssuch as Zeno and Silva, the entire family fears being eradicated within a matter of seconds because of the power that Nanika holds.
While its abilities can certainly be used for good,as seen when Killuaused them to help Gon when he was dying, they are, more often than not, a threat to everyone. With such tremendous power, Alluka is certainly an underrated character and also possibly the most fearsome one.
