Summary
The next step for theKingdom Heartsfranchise still lies somewhere in its future, even if the time of its exact arrival remains unknown.Kingdom Hearts 4will be the next mainline entry in theKingdom Heartsseries, and fans are still patiently waiting for it after its announcement as part ofKingdom Hearts' 20th anniversary in 2022. Current rumors paint 2026 asKingdom Hearts 4’s release window, so the community’s waiting likely won’t let up anytime soon, even if there should still be a shorter wait than what they endured forKingdom Hearts 3.
Because the game is still so far off, details are scarce onKingdom Hearts 4, with fans now knowing much more about the closerKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkinstead. What little has been confirmed is thatKHprotagonist Sora is trapped in the mysterious otherworld of Quadratum alongside the thought-dead ancient Keyblade wielder Strelitzia, and his friends are all looking for him. Complete with lingering mysteries like the Foretellers and Yozora,Kingdom Hearts’ Lost Master Arcshould open with a bang, especially if it can lock down one exciting crossover opportunity.
Star Wars Would Be Perfect For Kingdom Hearts 4
It’s tough to predictKingdom Hearts 4’s Disney crossover worlds based on a lone teaser trailer, apart from what looks like a cutscene-exclusive cutaway toHercules' Underworld. However, a contingent of fans is convinced that said trailer did tease one other property, and it’s one that many have been wondering about since beforeKH3’s launch. Based on a close analysis of a few suspicious nature shots, it seems that aStar Warsworld could become aKingdom Hearts 4destination, and there are many reasons why this is such an exciting idea.
Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars Are Ideal Crossover Material
For instance, space travel via the Gummi Ship has been a regularKingdom Heartsfeature, and an outer space-basedLilo & Stitchworld even appeared inKingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. BothKingdom HeartsandStar Warsare concerned with opposing supernatural forces representing good and evil, and they even share the same Light and Dark names. And of course, both franchises frequently show climactic sword clashes against villains clad in dark, flowing clothing. WhetherKingdom Hearts 4limits itself toEpisode 6’s Endorand Death Star 2, or if it branches out into the Prequel or Sequel trilogies, it feels like these franchises are made for each other, and that can be cleanly summarized in one item.
A Kingdom Hearts Star Wars World Needs A Lightsaber Keyblade
The aforementioned climactic sword clashes aren’t done with regular swords in either franchise. Rather,Kingdom Heartsuses Keyblades and whatever weapon of choice the latest villain goes with, whileStar Warsopts for lightsabers. The logical conclusion here is thatKingdom Hearts 4’sStar Warsworld should either include or end with Sora gaining a lightsaber Keyblade, which should fit in cleanly alongsideKingdom Hearts’ many other crossover Keyblades. It wouldn’t even be that outlandish, asKHplayers have already seen Xemnas wield literal blades of light, and Young Xehanort use a Keyblade resembling a laser whip.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Can Make A Lightsaber Keyblade As Cool As It Sounds
A lightsaber Keyblade shouldn’t stop celebrating the merger of these two properties with its appearance, either. IfKingdom Hearts 4includes anything likeKH3’s Formchanges, then Sora’s blade could become double-sided, and Sora himself could let loose withStar Wars’ Force powers, ranging from Force Push and Pull to normally Sith-exclusive techniques like Force Lightning. Everything short of Force Choke is on the table, andKH4’sStar Warsworld has every reason to give players this Keyblade partway through just to guarantee a proper lightsaber duel with Darth Vader, or another iconic villain. IfKingdom Hearts 4gets the chance to adapt Star Wars, there’s no way it can miss this idea.
