Image upscaling is an important part of video game technology, especially for triple-AAA releases. WhileNvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling, or DLSS, is pretty much the front-runner right now, AMD has a worthy contender with its own Fidelity FX Super Resolution, or FSR. In order to keep up with the other two,Intelwill also be launching its own upscaling software alongside its upcoming Arc graphics cards. With that, the chip manufacturer has recently announced which games will be compatible with its XeSS, or Xe Super Sampling, AI.

In a recent post on Twitter,Intelexcitedly made mention of the fact that a number of big releases will support its upscaling technology. Given that the tweet is accompanied by an image from Kojima Productions’Death Stranding, it obviously hints that that will be one of the named titles. The link in the post goes to the company’s website, which outlines more games, with a couple of well-known releases, and undoubtedly more to follow.

As well as the aforementionedDeath Stranding, IO Interactive’sHitman 3will also support XeSS. This is perhaps not going to be a huge surprise to those who have been following Intel’s progress, as the software was already demonstrated in the stealth game a few months ago. Other games includeRift Breaker,Grid LegendsandPlayerunknown’s Battleground. There are currently only a handful that appear on the full list, but, as mentioned above, it’s entirely possible that there will be more to come further down the line.

Intel is currently getting ready to unleash its own range of discreet graphics cards this year. While theQ1 2022 window for Arc Alchemist may have been missed, it’s still expected that “team blue” will be releasing its first line of GPU products soon. Benchmark tests are showing that the desktop cards may be able to match the likes of the Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti, though there are speculations that Intel won’t be aiming to compete against high-end GPUs right out the gate.

On top of that,Intel recently announced its i9 12900KS CPU at CES 2022. It sounds like it’s going to be a busy year for the California-based conglomerate. With a host of hardware on the horizon, and the company pushing its XeSS upscaling technology, it’s entirely possible thatIntelwill be able to take on the likes of AMD and Nvidia in the graphics card world, but that all depends on how easy it will be for consumers to get hold of products during these uncertain times.
