Summary

Not too long after the show announced its return,Invincible’s Twitter account added a few more details for the upcoming season, including splitting it into two parts. They also added why they are taking a brief hiatus between the first and second half of season 2.

The account saidInvincibleseason 2 will be split into two parts because of the events of the second season’s fourth episode. Judging from the phrasing of it, it sounds as though something monumental will happen that fans will need time to digest before they resume the show.

Invincible’s Twitter account revealed how things will transpire when they air new episodes. “First four episodes of Season 2 start Nov. 3, airing weekly through Nov. 24…Then there will be a short break for you to take a breath, hug your family, and reflect on what you just experienced in Episode 204…Next four episodes will arrive in early 2024.” The announcement did not reveal when season 2 would resume.

Other announcements include some guest stars in the show’s upcoming season, likeBetter Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn and Josh Keaton, which could implya potential Spider-Man crossover. Perhaps most shocking is that Cecil’s right-hand man, Donald, who died in season 1’s finale, has come back to life after blowing himself up to stop Omni Man. Also, it appears the gap between season 2 and season 3 won’t be as long as the gap between season 1, as they confirmed that season 3’s voice recording has already been completed.

Whatever they’re hinting at, it has to be beyond what they did in season 1, which would be impressive knowing that the show’s quality was based on its ability to push boundaries.Invincibleseason 1 was littered with moments that were as shocking as they were brutal. BetweenOmni Man killing off the Guardiansof the Globe to start the series to Mark almost dying at the hands of Battle Beast to Nolan beating Mark within an inch of his life in the finale, season 1 did not hold anything back. At the same time, it implied during its last scene that it was all just the tip of the iceberg towards something greater.

The real takeaway is that those behindInvincibleknow it took a long time for the show to return after being one of the surprise hit shows in 2021, and they’re letting their fans know thatInvincibleseason 2 will be worth the wait. This show brought so much fresh material to the genre because its foundation was explaining why being a superhero would suck, first and foremost, no matter how strong you are, but what made Mark Grayson invincible was not his powers but his will. Fans will get to see how that gets explored further.
