J.B. Smoove, who is best known for playing Leon Black on Larry David’sCurb Your Enthusiasm, revealed that he will reprise his role as Peter Parker’s teacher inSpider-Man: No Way Home. The latest Spidey film wrapped production earlier this year and is part of Phase Four of the MCU.
Smoove last played Julius Dell in 2019’sSpider-Man: Far From Home. The film took place following the events ofAvengers: Endgameand saw Peter Parker help Nick Fury takedown mysterious creatures called Elementals while on a European school trip. The film’s post-credit sequence revealed that the Nick Fury and Maria Hill whom Peter Parker was working with were Skulls in disguise.Far From Homeearned positive reviews from critics and grossed over $1 billion worldwide on a $160 million budget.

Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei are all set to return inthe thirdSpider-Maninstallment. While specific plot details have yet to be released, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are reprising their respective roles from previousSpider-Maniterations. Molina notably played Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus in 2004’sSpider-Man 2, while Foxx starred as Max Dillon/Electro in 2014’sThe Amazing Spider-Man 2.Marvel Studios’No Way Homewas directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
During a recent episode ofThe Daily Zeitgeist, Smoove confirmed that he is inFar From Home.“I don’t know how many people have done it, but I’m in both the Marvel and DC universes,” said the comedian, while adding, “I’ve been inSpider-Man: Far From Homeand just did the newSpider-Mantoo and I’m Frank the Plant in theHarley Quinnanimated universe.” While promoting the previousSpider-Manfilm, Smoove joked that he’d like tostar alongside Martin Starrin a revival of thePower Man and Iron Fistfranchise for Marvel Studios. Starr played Peter Parker’s academic decathlon teacher in the first two films and is expected to return forNo Way Home.
Benedict Cumberbatch is also set to appear as Doctor Strange in the film. Marvel previously confirmed that there’s a narrative correlation betweenNo Way HomeandDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Multiverse will have an important part in the wall-crawler’s next film, which is rumored to havea live-action Spider-Verse element. Cumberbatch will likely serve the mentor role that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man played inHomecoming. Meanwhile, the upcomingDoctor Strange sequel is being helmed by Sam Raimi, who ironically directed the originalSpider-Mantrilogy.
Of course, Marvel Studios and Sony have been tight-lipped when it comes to web slinger’s next adventure. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from assuming past versions of Peter Parker will appear in the film, despite efforts to deny such rumors.
Spider-Man: No WayHomeis scheduled to be released in theatres on July 12, 2025.
