The two-partSailor Moon Eternalmovieis slated to release its first part on January 8, then February 11 in Japan. The latest short teaser video explores the doubts and fears the young Chibiusa feels compared to the elder Usagi/Sailor Moon. The person Chibiusa confides in is Pegasus/Helios.

The latest video for Sailor Moon Eternal is one of many short videos this month.It started with a shortfeaturing the Sailor Scouts aside from Sailor Moon then one showcasing the series power couple Mamarou and Usagi. There was even a separate teaser video highlighting the story beats ofSailor Moon Eternal,which is a well-known arc in Naoko Takeuchi’s manga.
The marketing for this movie has almost been a reminder that it even exists and yes it is definitely going to release.It’s an understandable approachconsidering COVID-19 delayed the fall release of this movie.Sailor Moon Eternalis a continuation ofSailor Moon Crystal, a reboot of the classic 90’s anime, that first aired in 2014 and went three seasons.
The reboot stays trueto the manga version by Takeuchi with Eternal bringing back Chiaki Kon, the director of season 3 ofSailor Moon Crystal. The character designer from the original Sailor Moon anime Kazuko Tadano was also involved in this project. It’s been 25 years since a Sailor Moon movie has been on the big screen in Japan and the time seems ripe for a revival.
