Netflix’s new adaptation ofResident Evilis more different than a lot of fans may realize. It takes place in two different timelines following Jade Wesker. In 2022, she is a teenage girl who gets wrapped up in an Umbrella cover-up. Her sister, Billie, is also involved along with their father Albert Wesker. That name should sound familiar but things are not quite as they appear.

The other timeline shows Jade as an adult in 2036. Somehow, a zombie apocalypse happened and she’s doing all that she can to prevent any more lives from being lost. Season one ofResident Evilleaves a lot on the table for a second season ifNetflixdecides to renew it. Here are the biggestResident EvilNetflix questions that still need answers.

8Where Are The Resident Evil Heroes?

The biggest question on the minds of fans is where the main heroes of this ever-expanding universe are. Are Leon S. Kennedy, the Redfields, or any other heroes from the games still alive? The only clue fans are given in Netflix’sResident Evilis that Jade, Bert, and Billie are going to Japanto see Ada Wong.

That is in the past, 2022, so even if the other heroes are still alive then, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will still be alive in the present day of 2036. It would be weird for the TV show to kill off the main characters though, especially before they have even appeared.

7How Were Jade And Billie Born?

There are a few possibilities as to what Jade and Billie are.In Wesker’s lab, the girls find passports referencing them with a different name: Schneider. Michaela Schneider was an Umbrella operative who appeared in the multiplayer game,Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Later, Wesker tells the girls they did have donor mothers but their names don’t sound familiar to anyone from the game universe. Those are two clues but they could be misleading. Was Wesker telling the truth or are they somehow clones like their father and without any sort of female embryo donor?

6What Is Evelyn?

Is Evelyn, like Wesker, a genetically modified clone of someone else? Fans know that she is the daughter of James Marcus, one of the founders of Umbrella. In the games, it’s never mentioned that he had children but that’s not really important for the show.

In the 2005 flashback to the Arklay Mountains wherein theother Wesker clonesare revealed, Evelyn looks the same age as she does in 2022 and 2036. She gets controlled by Billie later with a fun dance number making viewers believe she might be some sort of robot. It’s all very unclear but Evelyn is definitely not human.

5Where Are All Of The Safe Havens?

In 2036, Jade looks at a global map showcasing some of the few human civilizations left on Earth. Some of the named locations include Fortress Scandinavia, Amazonia, and Limbrella. In Netflix’sResident Evil, it is revealed that there are less than a dozen known safe haven locations left.

This could be a big plot point in season two wherein Jade and the University have to find and help a struggling safe haven or maybe even all of them. The big question though is how many of them are there? Also, areheroes like Chris, Leon, and so on stuck in these zombie-free zones?

4Are There Other Evolved Zombies?

One of the biggest revelations for Jade happens when she gets captured and sent to the cult prison. Inside, she sees a female zombie who has the power to control others, seemingly with her voice. If this zombie evolved then there must be more out there in the world.

The end of this season already teased a variant of the Tyrant series aka whatMr. X and Nemesiswere in the games. Assumedly, there will also be more evolved zombies like this woman in season two of the Netflix show.

3Did Jade Put A Tracker On Billie?

One of the worst mistakes that Jade made in Netflix’sResident Evilwas trusting Billie. The tracker in the zombie’s head led Umbrella to the University which caused unforeseen tragedies. At the very end, Billie kidnaps B who will presumably be like a blood bag for Billie just like how she and Jade were blood bags for Wesker.

At first, it seems like she is upset, but when Billie flies away, Jade gives a look as if to say, “I got you.” Did Jade put a tracker on B so that she and the University could follow themto Umbrella’s headquarters? That might be inferring a lot, but her look did seem to have some meaning beyond one of hatred and revenge.

2How Does The Outbreak Happen?

It seems like season one of Netflix’sResident Evilwas leading up to how the zombie outbreak happened. However, it’s still unclear how that comes about. Billie got bit by a dog, thus infecting her, but she still seems to be in control despite some outbursts.

The aforementioned Tyrant escapes which may be how things start to escalate quicker in season two. Will the full outbreak be shown in season two or is the show going to try and milk it for at least three seasons to keep fans on the edge of their seats?

1How Did Umbrella Reform?

If the show takes place in the game universe then how is Umbrella still around? Most of the series follows classicheroes like Leongoing after Umbrella to shut them down for good. That seemingly happens inResident Evil 6, but a reformed Umbrella is introduced at the end ofResident Evil 7with Chris.

This reformed faction is trying to clean up old Umbrella’s mess who the world seemingly knows was pure evil. How then could Umbrella reform as a giant pharmaceutical company without anyone being remotely suspicious of their intentions?
