Summary

InThe Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask,players can gain certain perks for gathering stray fairies. Once players collect all the lost fairies in a temple, they can reunite them withthat region’s great fairyto receive a reward. These rewards aid Link in his journey, with some being more useful than others. There are fifteen fairies in each temple and players can get them in any order, but this guide details the easiest route.

Keep in mind that players can come back after beating the temple and the boss, so this can always be done later. Additionally, there are slight variations between theN64/Gamecubeversions and the3DSversion. Here, the N64 version is the default, and the 3DS version will be mentioned as necessary. This guide to the Woodfall temple’s fairies will help old players remember fairy locations, whilehelping new players discover them.

Obtaining The Great Fairy’s Mask

It is important to note that the Great Fairy’s Mask will make this task a thousand times easier, so it’s worth getting it before tackling any stray fairy quests. The mask can be obtained by helping the great fairy in North Clock Town, and the single fairy you need to bring to her is located in the laundry pool during the day, and near the Deku flower in front of the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town at night.

First Fairy

Location: Entrance

As soon as you walk into the Woodfall temple’s first room, you’ll see a fairy floating above a chasm. By using the first Deku Flower, fly to the left Deku Flower platform, and turn to the right to face the wall. Link can hop into that Deku flower to fly across and get the fairy. If players have the fairy mask, they can just put it on, and the fairy will come directly to Linkwithout him even having to move.

Second Fairy

This one is simple. When you face the wall from the first flower platform, you will see that the very next platform, slightly to the right behind a tree trunk, holds a chest. The second fairy is in it. Simply glide across using the Deku flower, then open the chest to find another fairy. Because it is inside a chest, the fairy mask will not call the fairy to you if you use it, even though the mask will glow when you’re near it.

Third Fairy

Location: Main Room

Walk into the next room with the large mechanical flower in the center of a poison swamp. Bypassing the tall regenerating Deku Baba near the door, take the wooden path on the left to find another Deku Baba. Put it out of its misery to receive the third fairy.

Fourth Fairy

In the corner of this room, there are 5 pots on a platform and the fourth fairy is inside one of them. From the location of the third fairy, hop across the flowers as Deku Link to avoid the poison water and traverse to the platform. Link will have to go to the platform with the door on the other side of the room before jumping to the corner with the pots, as he cannot make it straight from the flower platforms.

Fifth Fairy

Location: Push-Block Room

After getting the first key, go back to the main room where the third and fourth fairies were located and go through the locked door. In this room, move the block forward and follow the wooden path to the right, then proceed tokill the Skulltula. Link will receive a fairy as a reward for its demise.

Sixth Fairy

Stay in this room and get back onto the wooden path to look up at the floating platforms above Link. The hornet’s nest on the platform directly above the wooden intersection contains a fairy. Use Deku Link’s bubble blast or another projectile to shoot it down. Theother nests will drop items too,but only the middle one is necessary to get the fairy.

Seventh Fairy

Location: Dark Boe Room

Above the room with fairies five and six, there’s a dark room with anobnoxiously numerousamount of black Boes. Dispose of them all to make a treasure chest appear that contains the seventh fairy.

Don’t forget to kill the Boes hiding around the torch. Getting back out can be confusing, but lighting all three torches in this room will remove the bars from the door, allowing Link to exit this forsaken place.

Eighth Fairy

Head to the upper level of the main room again with the large wooden flower in the center where the third and fourth fairies were located. If you come out of the door under the area with the pillars, there’s a fairy in a bubble to the right of the door. Grab it to receive the eighth fairy.

Ninth Fairy

Location: Golden Eye Switch Room

After defeating the Dinolfos and getting the bow, follow the L-shaped path to see a hornet’s nest inside the mouth of a monkey mural that’s on the wall to the left of the eye switch. Shoot the nest to release the ninth fairy. The fairy mask will call the fairy to Link for easy retrieval. However, those who don’t have the fairy mask can shoot the eye to activate a moving platform with a Deku flower on it. Now, Link can jump down and get the fairy using Deku Link to hop over the water, then use the moving platform to get back up.
