Over the past few days,Mario Party Superstarsfans have been speculating whether DLC for the latest title in the series is in development. A recent YouTube survey has hinted newMario Party Superstarscontentcould soon be available, but fans should take the information with a grain of salt.
Mario Party Superstarsbrought back many classic boards from the Mario Party series and is often considered one of thebest Nintendo Switch games of 2021. The title enables up to four players to take part in a series of minigames both locally and online, and continues to be one of the biggest selling games on the digital Nintendo store.

Speculation about possible DLC has increased following a recent YouTube advertiser survey, which asked, “Next time you buy a downloadable content pack, which one are you most likely to buy?” and hadMario Party Superstarsas one of the options to select. Other options in the survey included the upcomingMario Kart 8DLC,Hot Wheels UnleashedandAnimal Crossing New Horizons: Happy Home Paradise. The design ofMario Party Superstarscould facilitate new minigames to be easily added, such to the title’s Mt. Minigames, where players take part in a number of challenges in quick succession.
It is unclear if the survey was created by Nintendo or a third party. However, with the originalMario Partygame on the Nintendo Switch,Super Mario Party, not receiving any DLC,Mario Party Superstarsappears a more likely title for new content. Since launch, fans have been considering whatother boards could be made availablewithinMario Party Superstars, such as Koopa’s Tycoon Town fromMario Party 8or Bowser’s Pinball Machine fromMario Party DS, which could form part of upcoming DLC.
Many gamers will be keen to see new content added toMario Party Superstarsand DLC could be included as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, which continues to have new content added and regular improvements made, such as therecent enhancements to the Nintendo 64 emulation. DLC could even tie in with the release of the three Nintendo 64Mario Partygames, which are currently absent from the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. However, fans may be concerned Nintendo is increasingly relying on revenue from downloadable content, rather than including all possible content when a game is initially released.
