The long-rumoredMass Effect Trilogyremaster could be announced sooner than predicted if a series of bizarre posts on Twitter are to be believed. While the pre-order itself looks legitimate, the legitimacy of theMass Effect Trilogybeing released soon remains highly dubious.
The situation starts with Twitter user Haris Mohammad linking a photo of a list. The list featured names of upcoming games, as well as their release dates. On the list was a currently unannounced product namedN7, followed byMass Effect Trilogy Remasteredin parentheses, with the release date for N7 written down as September 29. There’s no listed source for the list, though some have assumed that it’s an internal-use-only list for Game retailers in the UK.

If that was the end of the story, it’d be one thing.Retailer listings for gamesare one of the least reliable sources of information online. However, it doesn’t stop there. The same user then tweets a photo of a receipt, showing that someone was able to go into a Game store and make the pre-order. They even put down an advance of $5. If the receipt isn’t faked, that means that the pre-order is legitimately available in Game’s computer system.
The user even provides a screenshot of Game’s official website having a reference for the pre-order. A link is provided regarding the pre-ordered product, however the listing it links to triggers a server error. It’s possible that the listing for the game is currently hidden, which is common for games that have pre-orders go live alongside their announcements. In other words, the evidence provided for thisMass Effect Trilogyrumoris more than impressive and nothing stands out as blatantly suspicious or falsified.
Another Reddit user even adds some credibility to the supposed leak, saying that they’ve worked at Game and that release dates for pre-orders are typically only inserted if they’re taken from official sources. That means that they believe the September 29release date for theMass Effect Trilogyremasteris accurate.
