Kicked for Inactivity is an AFK prevention inModern Warfare 3to ensure active participation and balanced teams. However, it appears that the measurements for detecting inactivity have become stricter in theMW3multiplayer, resulting in players being kicked out after relatively short periods of camping, sniping, or crouching. This guide aims to shed light on the causes of this issue, clarify whether it is a bug or intentional design, and providebest practices to avoid being kicked for inactivity.
What Causes Kicked for Inactivity in MW3?
InModern Warfare 3, staying stationary within a confined area for an extended period will prompt a “Kick for Inactivity” warning. This applies to various actions such as camping, sniping, utilizing vehicle weapons, and crouching in corners.
Players have recently been reporting instances of receiving the “Kick for Inactivity” error, regardless of their kill-to-death ratio or level of engagement in the match. In the past, only players who were inactive or away from the keyboard (AFK) were subject to being kicked. However, inthe new multiplayer mode, even campers and snipers who fail to reposition themselves have been affected by this issue.
How to Avoid Being Kicked for Inactivity?
To get around Kicked for Inactivity notices, reposition and engage in the battle.Instead of circling in the same area, react to the combat by shooting from different angles, using throwables, anddeploying Field Upgrades. As a rule, try not to remain idle in the same position for over 60 seconds.
Another crucial step isaddressing network issues. Latency and packet loss can indeed contribute to triggering Kicked for Inactivity, as they delay server communications.
Is This a Glitch or a Gameplay Feature?
As of this writing, Kicked for Inactivity is an intentional gameplay feature. There seems to be no known issue regarding this notice onMW3’s Trello Board, and the developers haven’t acknowledged it as a game-breaking glitch.
However, inactivity measures will likely change in the upcoming patches. What frustrates players is the short AFK duration, kicking players out of the lobby after 20-30 seconds of immobility. So, the developers might tone down the restrictions by raising the threshold.
Previously, a similar issue causedunfair kicks inMW2andWarzone. During Season 01, some players were randomly excluded from the map despite their normal engagement. (This glitch was later solved with Season 02’s March update).
