Though most of the cast inMy Hero Academiais accounted for in some way, there are still plenty of characters in the anime that fall short compared to the rest. These characters are generally the heroes or villains with the shortest screen time, the least amount of love, or characters who can’t seem to catch a break with Horikoshi, the manga’s creator.
10Jin Bubaigawara - Twice
Jin Bubaigawara is first introduced to theMy Hero Academiaaudience as Twice. Twice is Jin Bubaigawara’s villain name, and he is one of the original members ofthe League of Villains.Twice has some hearty moments in theMy Hero Academiaanime, but he is constantly being brought down, and he is never given a true chance to shine.
Jin’s backstory is arguably one of the best developments in the entire anime and has an emotional tie-in with his quirk. Speaking of, Jin’s quirk allows him to make temporary duplicates of anything, including people or himself.
9Principal Nezu
Nezu is initially built-up as a fierce person who one would assume is grand, but in reality, principal Nezu is actually very small. Principal Nezu is a small animal who became a rare case after he gained a quirk. After being randomly gifted powers, Nezu became a hero, and eventually the principal of UA High School.
Nezu doesn’t get a lot of screen time, and even when he does, it is usually only in times related to the stature of UA High School. Many fans would want to see Nezu get in on the action, especially when other heroes have stepped down in season 6.
8Mashirao Ojiro - Tailman
Mashirao Ojiro is just one of the students in Class 1-A that attend UA High School. Ojiro has a fairly simple quirk that gave him an extra appendage, which is a sturdy tail. Ojiro has learned to use his tail in close combat, and being a master at martial arts, Ojiro succeeded in getting into UA High with exceptional battle skills.
Ojiro is one of the few unlucky characters that don’t get great screen time inMy Hero Academia.The only time that fans could see Ojiro in the spotlight, was for a brief time inMy Hero Academia: Heroes Rising.
7Hanta Sero - Cellophane
One ofMy Hero Academia’sbest side charactersin Class 1-A, is the hero-in-training Cellophane, Cellophane, known more commonly as Hanta Sero, is a student at UA High School.
Sero’s quirk is definitely one of the more bizarre ones, as it allows him to shoot tape from his elbows that are incredibly sticky, and can support a lot of weight. Sero is underrated due to the fact that he doesn’t ever seem to share the spotlight at all, despite him being in Class 1-A, the class for the best hero students.
6Inasa Yoarashi - Gale Force
Inasa Yoarashi was first introduced to the audience in season three ofMy Hero Academia. During the Provisional License Exam, UA High School would be going up against different students from other schools, including Shiketsu High. This is where Yoarashi came in under the hero name, Gale Force.

Yoarashi was a first-year student with amazing talent and could give Class 1-A a run for their money. Unfortunately, even with a super personality and flashy technique, Yoarashi hasn’t been relevant since the License Exam.
5Tamaki Amajiki - Suneater
When the Big Three were introduced to Class 1-A and to fans, Mirio Togata instantly became a fan favorite under a heavy spotlight. The other two students who are a part of the Big Three, not so much. Tamaki Amajiki is one of the students who are a part of the Big Three, meaning he is one of the most powerful students in UA High School.
While dealing with insecurities and anxiety, Amajiki is able to ferociously take down opponentswith his quirkwhich allows him to take on features of the things he eats, like an octopus. Despite this, Amajiki, also known as Suneater, hasn’t had but one great moment in the anime.
4Shoto Aizawa - Eraserhead
Shoto Aizawa is undoubtedly one of the more popular characters on this list, but that doesn’t mean to say that he isn’t an underrated character. Shoto Aizawa, also known by his hero name Eraserhead, isthe homeroom teacherfor Class 1-A.
Aizawa has a quirk that lets him cancel out the quirk of others just by looking at them. Though his quirk isn’t very combative, Aizawa has developed a fighting technique using a long scarf to help him overpower opponents quickly. It’s the simple fact that he has a technical quirk, yet is on the front lines battling it out with a scarf that makes him so underrated.
3Fumikage Tokoyami - Tsukuyomi
There are some incredibly powerful students in Class 1-A,including Shoto Todoroki,Izuku Midoriya, and Katsuki Bakugo, but one of the underrated students in the class bears one of the strongest quirks in UA High School. That is the student, Fumikage Tokoyami, also known by his hero name, Tsukuyomi.
Tokiyami has Dark Shadow as his quirk, which is a shadow entity that thrives within him. Dark Shadow can fight for Tokiyami and grows in size and strength when it is dark. Tokiyami’s quirk is so powerful, that Class 1-A had to come together to bring him down at one point. Unfortunately, Tokiyami isn’t sent into great fights despite having such a great quirk.
2Nine
TheMy Hero Academiamovies have given fans some of the best visuals in the entire franchise, andHeroes Risingmay have just given the audience thebest fight scenesin all ofMy Hero Academia. Nine is themain antagonist introducedinHeroes Rising, and his initial quirk allows him to control the weather, mostly using it to strike lightning at his enemies.
After gaining partial access to All For One’s quirk, he began to steal quirks. He was so powerful, and it took desperate decisions in order to take him down. Nine is underrated because fans didn’t see a lot of him, even in the movie. If Nine could have made appearances in the anime before the movie, his character would have seen a lot more traction with fans.
1Jurota Shishida - Gevaudan
Jurota Shishida is one of the hero-course students that are in Class 1-B. Drawing the short stick, Class 1-B of UA High School is entirely underrated. Each student in the class has a great quirk. Shishida is one of the best students in his class and has a quirk that allows him to transform into a large beast with immense strength, speed, and heightened senses.
Similar to Beast from the X-Men team, Shishida was able to take on a few Class 1-A students and almost won against them. Not only is Shishida severely underrated, but the entire class of 1-B is underrated.
