A new set of gameplay videos for Bandai Namco’sNaruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connectionsfeatures two new playable characters in the form of Baryon Mode Naruto Uzumaki and Supporting Kage variant for Sasuke.Naruto and Sasukehave had a storied friendship and rivalry. They’ve also become some of the strongest ninjas in theNarutofranchise, gaining godlike power throughout their journeys. Fans will be able to re-experience their rivalry in CyberConnect2’s upcoming fighter.For the uninitiated,CyberConnect2 announced the newNaruto Ultimate Ninja Stormgameearlier in 2023, the first game in the series in nearly six years. It will coincide withNaruto’s 20th anniversary, and it will feature every single playable ninja from the past games in one package. On top of that, it will have an extensive story mode that covers the entirety of the series, featuring every climactic battle that fans have ever seen in the anime/manga. With a huge focus on the series' legacy, its star players get two new playable forms in this game that weren’t featured before.RELATED:Tekken 8 Character Uses Move from NarutoNaruto Uzumaki gets a new playable form known as Baryon mode, which is aunique transformation when utilized between Naruto and Kurama. The player starts off in his Nine-Tails Chakra mode to start, with this transformation being activated through Naruto’s Secret Technique or Awakening skill. In this state, Naruto gains a red cape and energy tails, which increases his power and speed. This version of the character emphasizes his lightning bruiser nature, along with his signature attack, the Rasengan.
Sasuke Uchiha also gets a new playable variant, known as “Supporting Kage,” which reflects his role after the main series, whereSasuke becomes a protector of the village from the shadows. As such, this version is the one fans see throughout theBorutoseries, with his cape and sword. He’s also at his strongest, utilizing a combination of lightning, fire, and shadowy jutsu. His secret technique sees him using his Planetary Devastation attack, before finishing off his opponent with two Kirin.
Bandai Namco also shared a brief teaser of what to expect forNaruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections’story mode, which is touted to have something original that features Boruto in the main role. There’s a screenshot of an enemy holding Boruto at kunai-point, along with a confrontation between Boruto and an imposing red Susanoo enemy. There seems to be a lot going intoNaruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connectionsthat could make it a great time for any fan.
Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connectionswill be released in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
