Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessis the next big feature film coming out of the MCU, and to keep the hype rolling, new posters for the sequel focus on the trio of Strange variants.

Naturally, Strange will come across several characters throughout his journey, with variants of fan-favorite MCU heroes likely making appearances in the film, including alternate versions of the Sorcerer himself.

The new vibrant, psychedelic art, which was released by Redwolf, focuses on the three strange variants: the main Doctor Strange, the evil Strange Supreme, and the pony-tailed Defender Strange. Many fans already know who Strange Supreme is, as the evil version of the sorcerer was introduced in last year’s animated anthology seriesWhat If…?, and was seen attempting to use magic in order to prevent his girlfriend Christine Palmer’s death, which would eventually drive him mad. While beginning with good intentions, this variant then turned to the Dark Dimension in hopes of resurrecting her, which then lead to him absorbing many other interdimensional beasts. While there’s no telling how much he will be featured in the film, it is very likely thatDoctor Strange Supreme will set up lasting implicationsfor the rest of the MCU.
As for Defender Strange, this version has not yet been introduced into the MCU. What is known from the comics, however, is this version, like his name implies, is the good version of Doctor Strange who eventually teams up with the Defenders, which consists of heroes like Valkyrie, Silver Surfer, Namor, and Hulk. In this upcoming sequel, Defender Strange will most likely help the main Doctor Strange in taking down Strange Supreme or any other villains.
Only a few months away, fans can expectanother bigDoctor Strange 2trailerthat will hopefully offer a close look at some of these new variants. Until then, fans will just have to rewatch the firstDoctor Strangeand catch up with the rest of the MCU to prepare for the multiversial madness that awaits.
With so much uncertainty surrounding the film, what is known is thatDoctor Strange 2will head down a much darker route, as star Elizabeth Olsen, who will return to play Wanda Maximoff following her appearance in Disney Plus’WandaVisionseries, did confirm thatDoctor Strange 2almost resembles a horror film at times. The sequel also stars Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo,Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessis set to release in theaters on July 18, 2025.
