It’s no secret that the majority of video game movies tend to release to poor reviews from fans and critics alike. However, Christophe Gans' 2006Silent Hillmovie is one of the better-received video game film adaptations out there, as it was mostly faithful to the source material and accurately recreated the fog-covered town from the games. Those who liked Christophe Gans’Silent Hillshould be happy to learn that a new movie in the series is apparently in the works.
Gans revealed as much to French film site Allocine. Gans is collaborating with Victor Hadida, the executive producer of theResident Evilmovies, on the newSilent Hillfilm project. “The project will always be anchored in this atmosphere of a small American town, ravaged by Puritanism,” Gans said, though stopped short of revealing more specific details about the newSilent Hillmovie project.

Horror game fans may also be happy to know thatSilent Hillisn’t the only movie in the works by Christophe Gans and Victor Hadida. The two are also working on an adaptation of theFatal Framefranchise. TheFatal Framemovie will still be set in Japan and have a “haunted house setting,” so it seems Gans will be sticking close to the source material with that particular project as well.
With Konami having largely abandoned game development, many assumed that we had seen the last of theSilent Hillfranchise. However, recent news has pointed in a brighter future for the series. As it turns out, this newSilent Hillmovie from Christophe Gans may be joined by not one, buttwo newSilent Hillvideo games.
A reputable leaker has said that Konami has twoSilent Hillgames in development, though details on what those projects will entail are scarce as well. Regardless of what form they take, many fans will be happy that they’re getting any newSilent Hillat all, as the series has been largely abandoned ever sinceKonami canceled Hideo Kojima’sSilent Hills.
Considering the ill-fate ofSilent Hills, some fans will understandably want to keep their expectations in check before they get too excited for a newSilent Hillvideo game or movie. Here’s hoping that these projects get off the ground and we learn more about them sooner rather than later.
