During a relaxedFinal Fantasy 14stream, Ninja was asked if he would return toFortnitecomp, to which he responded, “more than likely won’t return… until it makes sense.” Obviously, after years of engaging in a competitive career, Ninja more than likely just wants a break. “Honestly, I don’t want to get sucked back into the competitive s***,” he continued. For someone who has based his career on competitive games and esports tournaments, it’s fair to believe he might be a little burnt out now.
Ninja’s most recent venture into theFortnitecompetitive space occurred during the 2019 Winter Royale, where he teamed up with Reverse2k. Since then, a year and a half have passed, marking Ninja’s longest period of inactivity since the game’s initial release. Yet, this isn’t the first time that Ninja has proclaimed that he’s done withFortnitein some measure. Early last year, Ninja was streaming the game before he was killed four times by the same player. In which case,Ninja frustratingly exitedFortniteand began ranting to his audience about how the game is “dumb.”
Nevertheless, Ninja doesn’t state that he would never return to the game or its competitive space. After all,Fortniteremains one of the biggest games in the online scene, and Ninja is a massive figure in the games industry. Furthermore, Ninja is involved in various facets of the entertainment industry, as Ninja revealed earlier this year that he recorded his first voiceover for thelead character in a TV series.
In addition to landing a role as the lead character in a TV series,Ninja also announced a graphic novel,Ninja: War for the Dominions. This is all to say that, while he didn’t cross out the possibility of returning, Ninja is venturing onto interesting projects outside of the games industry altogether.
Fortniteis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
