Summary
Nioh 2offers players a wide selection of weapons, all of which can tear through bosses and demons alike. However, each weapon has different advantages and disadvantages and scales with different stats. This means that with the right build each weapon can truly shine but also means that players will want to find two weapons that scale with similar stats to ensure they deal the most damage they can with both.
Although it is certainly possible to make their way through the game using only one weapon, the ability to swap from ranged to close quarters, or from lightning-fast attacks to hard-hitting blows is too strong to pass up, so players will want to keep two weapons on them at all times. Players should read on to learn which combos are the strongest inNioh 2and what their strengths are.
6Axe & Spear
Axes and Hammers can deal massive damage and stagger enemies at the cost of slow swing speed. Withsome good timing and spacing, these weapons can be deadly, allowing players to quickly tear through groups of enemies and boss health bars. The big weakness of this weapon type is its slower speed, which punishes players while they are still learning enemy attacks.
The Spear is an excellent fix to this problem as it attacks quickly from a decent distance, keeping the player safe as they get used to their foe before swapping to the Axe to demolish them. Both weapon types scale slightly with strength, but players will want to invest most of their points into Stamina and Constitution, giving them excellent damage with both weapons and also giving them a massive amount of health and making them extremely difficult to kill.
5Sword & Dual Swords
This blade master combo is a tried and tested build in theNiohfranchise. Aside from having multiple swords being cool, this combo is great because of some excellent scaling and decent versatility. Sword attacks are slightly slower with more range while the dual swords offer some excellent burst damage for bigger targets.
These two weapon types are the only ones in the game with the same scaling, so players will want to invest mainly into Heart and Skill, maybe with some Strength. This also allows the build to use some Ninjitsu powers on the side and also benefits because there are agreat many excellent swords inNioh 2.
4Spear & Tonfa
The Spear is anexcellent starter weapondue to its ease of use and range control. It offers players reliable damage and scales well with Constitution, making players more survivable. Tonfas are an excellent pairing here as they also scale with Constitution and offer massive burst damage with faster attacks that can destroy enemy Ki.
Tonfas also scale with Courage, which is useful for any build wanting to attack more often and be more mobile around bosses. Players can also use some Ninjitsu skills as Tonfas also gain some scaling with Dexterity. For players looking for a reliable and easy-to-use combination of weapons, Spear and Tonfa are hard to beat.
3Kusarigama & Dual Swords
Players looking for amore aggressive and faster-paced approachto combat should consider the Kusarigama and the Dual Swords. This combination is excellent at dealing damage as quickly as possible and not allowing enemies to regroup. Players can use the Dual Swords when within arms reach of enemies and then swap to the Kusarigama and use its higher stance for a bit more range and harder hits.
These weapon types scale well together with Heart, Skill, and Dexterity. These stats also mean the player will have access to some great Ninjitsu powers, which can help in several situations. If players pair this with an equallyaggressive Guardian Spirit, they will quickly be bullying any enemy in their sights.
2Hatchets & Switchglaive/Switchstaff
For players looking tospice up their playthrough with some magic, the Hatchets and the Switchglaive or Switchstaff can offer some excellent damage. All three weapon types scale with Magic so the player’sOmnyo magic abilities will be very strong.
Players wanting to use the Splitstaff should look at Courage, while those preferring the Switchglaive should prioritize Skill. The Hatchets scale with both, making them a great pair for either weapon type. Aside from the magic, these combos work so well because there is almost no range at which the player cannot attack. With the glaive or staff for getting up close and the throwing hatchets and magic for range, no enemy is safe.
1Odachi & Fists
The Odachi is an extremely strong weapon type, dealing massive Health and Ki damage with good range. It can leave opponents reeling as their Ki suddenly disappears before they are smashed to the ground. Although its attacks are not slow, the lightning-fast attacks of the Fist weapon type are the perfect complement to its playstyle.
Fists offer massive DPS as they tear into enemies. They can be an excellent choice against enemies who do not believe in personal space or the player can swap to them to punish the enemy after tripping them or destroying their Ki. For this combo players will want to invest almost entirely in Strength as both weapon types scale primarily with that Stat.
