Summary
Hello Games has released patch 4.45 forNo Man’s Sky, which is aimed at fixing a number of quest bugs. This patch comes just weeks after thelaunch of the sizable Echoes update.
The Echoes update came with several quality-of-life fixes, such as introducing new refining recipes and camera framing. The update also added a brand new secretive race of robotic beings called the Autophage, which came with their own language for players to learn. Several narrative missions spanning the entirety of the game’s vast universe allowed players to not only learn the mechanical constructs’ language but also earn a new multitool - the Voltatic Staff.

Patch 4.45 brought with it a number of fixes for the issues that prevented some players from progressing quests, such as the A Leap in the Dark. The patch also had some updates for theNintendo Switch port ofNo Man’s Sky, including memory, texture, and rendering optimizations. The update also fixed a rendering corruption issue that was only found on the Xbox and graphics memory-related crashes on PC.
Additionally, the patch also brings toNo Man’s Skyseveral visual updates for stars, the sky, and the way light interacts in the universe. Players will now get improved rewards from the Autophages when improving language skills through practice. Players can also rest easy now, knowing they will no longer be sent to shipless crash sites for missions.
When discussingNo Man’s Sky, it is impossible not to talk about the state in which it launched. But Hello Games kept at it by releasing updates and fixes that made the space sim into a redemption story. And players love a good redemption story. It is now considered by many to beone of the best sandbox titleson modern platforms.
Recently, the game has seen a surge in popularity. Sean Murray, Hello Games' founder, said on Twitter that after seven years,No Man’s Skywas having its biggest month. One reason for this could be the release of Bethesda’sStarfield, a game that similarly allows players to explore space. While, of course, both games are different, it is for that reason that fans may be inclined to check outNo Man’s Skyagain after years of not playing. The last few years have been some of the best for video games, so it does speak to how much more improvedNo Man’s Skyhas become to draw players in seven years after its release.
