AC Mirage Hints at an Interesting Future for Basim
As playersexploreAssassin’s Creed Mirage’s districtof Karkh, they will come across a child perched near a synchronization point. Below him sits a haystack and his friends are calling to him from the ground, either urging him to get down or telling him to jump. If players want to, they can scale the tower he stands on to talk with him. When they do, he will tell Basim all about how he wants to join the Hidden Ones one day but must take the leap of faith first. So, it is up to the player to teach him how to do it.
After players show him how to do the leap of faith, the kid will jump soon after. While his landing may not be as graceful, he will successfully jump into the haystack without injuring himself. Once he exits, he will reunite with his friends, and they will all talk about what they just witnessed. During this conversation, players will be able to overhear thatthe child’s name is Hytham, unless they decide to leave before the conversation begins. That may not seem that interesting to those who never playedValhalla, but that moment is actually a huge part of Basim’s future, which fans should recognize immediately.
InValhalla,Basim and an older Hythamwill join the Raven Clan in their journey to settle in England. The two of them will work alongside the Clan to expand their presence in England while Hytham also tries to learn more about the Hidden Ones' past. He will also be responsible for teaching Eivor how to do the leap of faith, he served as the main Hidden Ones contact for players and would become a vital part of the Hidden Ones' future.
All of this means that after Basim taught Hytham the leap of faith, he was further encouraged to joinAssassin’s Creed’s Hidden Ones. By 867, he had become a member and often traveled alongside Basim. That may not be for the best reason as the Hidden Ones had grown skeptical of Basim’s true motives, but they do seem to grow close during all of their travels.
Miragehas shown players the very first interaction that Basim and Hytham ever had, which is so cool to see. Even though the quest is relatively brief, the implications alone are worth it. Diehard fans will love this sequence as it sets up an intriguing future, and newcomers may be interested to learn more. It is things like this that make prequels a great experience. Plus, it leaves room open for even more stories if Ubisoft is willing to explore them.
Assassin’s Creed Mirageis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
