With just under two weeks to go until its anniversary,Pokemonrevealed a new logo for this year’s Pokemon Day event. The annual celebration is observed at the end of February to mark the release of the firstPokemongames in Japan, which were 1996’sPokemon Red and Greenfor the Game Boy.Since the franchise’s launch,Pokemonhas become a worldwide phenomenon, with generations of fans coming together to battle, trade, and meet others like them. With over a thousand Pokemon to catch at the time of writing, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. However, with the imminent arrival ofthe newPokemonanime seasonthis spring, the first without Ash Ketchum and Pikachu in the spotlight, the focus of this year’s Pokemon Day hearkens back to one of the core tenets of thePokemonfranchise.RELATED:Next Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Battle Event Will Feature Garchomp and SylveonA new logo was revealed to commemorate the 2023 Pokemon Day, which was posted by Serebii on Twitter. The logo features Pikachu’s face in front of a Poke Ball outline, with the words “Pokemon Day” around the logo itself rather than on top and below it in a straight line as had been the case in previous years' logos. The color blue, which is commonly used in Pokemon’s international branding, is absent in this year’s logo.
In addition, Pokemon also revealed a new marketing campaign ahead of the franchise’s 27th anniversary in the form of a one-minute YouTube video. The video focused on Pokemon players of all kinds coming together to battle, trade, and collect Pokemon. Whether it’s connecting with long-lost companions, making new friends, orfinding new partners for life, thePokemonseries as a whole was founded on that very notion. The company also encouraged players to use #PokemonTogether on social media to share some of their experiences, some of which will be used to make a mosaic that will be posted on Pokemon Day, which is Monday, February 27.
As for whatPokemonplayers can expect in the coming weeks,Pokemon GOplayers will soon be able tobattle and catch Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogrevia the “Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn” events that will be held this weekend in Las Vegas, and next weekend globally. Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre were first featured in 2014’sPokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphirefor Nintendo 3DS.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will have a new Tera raid battle event featuring Garchomp and Sylveon this coming weekend, with news of DLC potentially coming on or around Pokemon Day. Despite leaks andrumors concerningPokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, fans will have to wait and see which of them will actually happen.
