Summary

APokemonfan has recently created Mega Evolutions for Rimbombee, Magmortar, and Polteageist. Since theintroduction of Mega Evolutions inPokemon X and Y, fans have been creating countless unofficial drawings inspired by this concept, and these new ones stand out due to the quality of the work.

The creatures featured in this latestPokemonfan art come from different generations. While Magmortar is a Fire-type creature from the fourth generation, the Bug/Fairy-type Ribombee was introduced in Gen 7. The Ghost-type Polteageist is an even newer addition than the others, first appearing inPokemon Sword and Shieldduring the franchise’s Gen 8.

In the recent fan-made artworks they shared with the community, aPokemonfan called Towel_Fakiemon imagined Mega Evolutions for these three creatures, coming up with mightier forms for each critter. Mega Ribombee, for example, looks almost the same but now has a longer scarf, bigger wings, and gloves in its paws. Mega Magmortar changes more than the previous Pokemon, as it gains heavy armor, new, bigger cannons, and a completely different face. Mega Polteageist’s redesign was more similar to Rimbombee’s, as the creature mainly still looks the same, but now it has four new arms holding small cups.

Towel_Fakiemon is only one of the latest fans to share a gallery of new critters inspired by Mega Evolutions with the community, though. Last month, anotherfan created 4 new Mega Evolutions, coming up with unique forms for Volcarona, Kleavor, Excadrill, and Sirfetch’d.

WhenPokemonfans design Mega Evolutions, they generally go in one out of two directions. Either the fans create something similar but generally bigger than the normal Pokemon, or they come with a completely distinct evolution, often giving a new type or unique characteristics to the creature. An example of a more conservative, yet interesting design was shared a few weeks ago, with afan creating a Mega Evolution for Shuckle. In this form, Shuckle received a helmet and some kind of shoulder pads on its arms that closely resemble the ones used by skaters in real life.

Yet another, more distinctive redesign, however, can be seen in aMinior Mega Evolution fan artshared by a gamer earlier this week. In this case, the artist completely changed Minior’s form for the Mega Evolution, giving it a bright body with several colors instead of the original brown one and making the creature even spikier than usual.
