APokemonfan who clearly knows their way around a pair of crochet hooks has crafted an adorable Totodile doll. Just looking at pictures of the plush creation will probably be enough to make somePokemonfans wish they could place an order for one online.
Totodile is one of the oldest breeds of Pokemon. It made its first appearance as a Water-type starter Pokemon inPokemon Gold and Silver. Unfortunately, severalrecentPokemongames have neglected Totodile, even though it remains a fan favorite. Totodile is one of the numerous popular Pokemon that failed to make an appearance in the recentPokemon Scarlet and Violet, for instance.

In thePokemonsubreddit, user SeiferNoir posted several pictures of their first completed craft project of the year. It is quite detailed, with a mouth full of fuzzy white teeth and red ridges along its back and tail, plus the familiar beige chevron visible across its chest. The doll was created in the amigurumi style, which incorporates stuffed spheres to form limbs and body parts for 3D toys. Crocheted versions of favorite Pokemon seem to have become especially popular within the fan community as of late. Onefan crocheted a detailed Charizard doll, and another one produced a doll for the starter Cyndaquil.
Yarn isn’t the only medium artists and crafters turn to when they feel the need to creatively explore their passion for thePokemonfranchise.Anotherfan created a poseable Vaporeon doll, a 30-hour process they documented with video. SeiferNoir didn’t specify how long the Totodile doll took to create, but did mention this is their third year of crocheting amigurumi. Experience making other Pokemon varieties apparently simplified the process. The user also makes patterns available to other fans who might wish to try crocheting a Pokemon or two of their own.
When fans create art and craft projects related to their favorite Pokemon, they almost always turn to early entries in the franchise, from the first two or three generations. The franchise has been around long enough to produce nine generations of possible inspiration, but some of thefunniest looking Gen 9 Pokemoncould pose a fresh challenge for fans who want to crochet their way off the beaten path. Then again, a lot of the most intriguing new additions lack the bulbous bodies commonly seen in previous generations. Perhaps a new medium can take over and lead to dolls made from plastic drinking straws or painted toothpicks. Within thePokemonfan community, almost anything seems possible.
