Taking to Reddit, an artist going by the name ling1ing decided to share a video they had created based on thePokemonseries. Specifically, they had made a unique animation of theIce/Flying-type Pokemon known as Articuno. While the animation cycle was only in sketch form, it still managed to capture the majestic movement of the bird-like creature. In the video, the artist animated the large wings of the Pokemon to appear as though they were flapping while its wispy tail feathers swayed in the wind. In addition, the design of Articuno included the signature crest, while the beak of the bird opened and closed as it moved its mighty wings up and down.

Besides posting the animation on Reddit, ling1ing shared several details about how they brought the Articuno sketch to life. According to the artist, they used Toon Boom, a type of animation software, to make the realistic movements of thePokemon. In addition, the artist revealed that the total video was 26 frames long. As a result, they noted that 13 individual drawings were needed to complete the animation cycle.

Impressively, this Articuno animation made by ling1ing piqued the curiosity of numerous members of thePokemoncommunity on Reddit. With over 12.6K upvotes in less than a day, the overwhelming majority of commenters liked the design of the bird-like Pokemon. Among the comments, praise went to the realism of the animation. “you’re able to really feel the weight of the air being pushed down by the wings,” I_AM_A_Pumpkin pointed out on Reddit. In addition, others found ways to make the video appear even more realistic. “I like to move my phone around like it’s flying in front of me!” another gamer said.

While this animation of Articuno was impressive, numerous other artists have managed to capture the attention of the gaming community as well. For example, another gamer recently made a similarly impressive3D animation for Lucariousing Blender. It will be interesting to see what other videos are shared by talented animators in the coming days. Perhaps ling1ing will decide to make more animations featuring Flying-type Pokemon in the future.
