This weekend is a busy one forPokemon GOplayers. Not only can they participate in the Abra Community Day event, but they can are also in the midst of the Buddy Up event. ThePokemon GOBuddy Up event end date is April 27, so fans of the game only have a couple of days left to add the region-exclusive Illumise and Volbeat to their collection.
While theAbra Community Day eventis active inPokemon GO, it may be a little more difficult than usual to catch Illumise and Volbeat out in the wild. However, there are other ways that players can get Illumise and Volbeat encounters to ensure that they snag the region-exclusive Pokemon while the Buddy Up event is still live.

As is the case with most otherPokemon GOlimited-time events, theBuddy Up eventfeatures special Field Research tasks that players can complete for rewards. It just so happens that there are a couple ofPokemon GOBuddy Up Field Research tasks that are specific to Illumise and Volbeat, meaning players can complete them to guarantee adding them to their collection. To get these Buddy Up Field Research tasks,Pokemon GOplayers will want to spin as many PokeStops as possible.
Here are the specificPokemon GOBuddy Up Field Research tasks that players should be looking for tocatch Illumise and Volbeat:
Take a snapshot of your buddy (Volbeat)
Play with your buddy (Illumise)
While these tasks should be pretty self-explanatory to dedicatedPokemon GOplayers that have stuck with the game long-term, lapsed players may not necessarily know what these tasks are asking for. To take asnapshot of their buddy,Pokemon GOplayers need to click on their buddy Pokemon’s icon on the bottom left-hand corner of the game screen. This should go to the buddy Pokemon screen, which has an icon to snap a photo. Playing with abuddy Pokemonis similar, but players should click the “Play!” button instead of the snapshot button.
Of course, once the Abra Community Day event ends,Pokemon GOplayers should also be able to find plenty of Illumise and Volbeat out in the wild. But regardless of how they’re caught, fans of the game should definitely make it a point to catch whichever one that doesn’t usually appear in their region.
