Raids are a gameplay feature inPokemon GOthat allow trainers to battle difficult Pokemon in a group or by themselves. Players can tell a Raid is about to occur by the large Egg or, if the Raid has started, the Pokemon floating over a Gym. Raids are good ways to catch strong Pokemon - including Legendary Pokemon - but to partake in one, players are going to need a Raid Pass.
InPokemon GO, there are two types of Raid Passes: The regular one that can only be used within a short distance of the Gym, and a Remote Raid Pass. As the latter’s name would imply, Remote Raid Passes can be used from just about anywhere. Players can partake in a Raid from home without having to walk to the Gym. Because of this, Remote Raid Passes are not easy to come by inPokemon GO. Thus, trainers will want to use Remote Raid Passes sparingly so that they don’t waste them.

Unlike Raid Passes, whichPokemon GOplayers will receive a free one each day as long as they don’t already have one in their inventory, Remote Raid Passes can only be bought. They can be bought individually for195 Poke Coinsor trainers can buy3 Remote Raid Passesfor525 Poke Coins. Niantic raised these prices from 100 and 300 Poke Coins respectively as a means to getPokemon GOplayersto go outside moreand partake in Raids in-person.
Another way to get a Remote Raid Pass is to buy theRemote Raid Boxfor315 Poke Coins. These appear under “Limited Time Only!” in the Shop, but they usually contain x2 Remote Raid Passes and x5 Hyper Potions.

Raids will only permit a maximum of5 Remote Raid Battlers a day. If the Gym Lobby already has 5 Battlers using Remote Raid Passes, then a 6th+ trainer will be unable to join.
Unfortunately, these decisions havenot been welcomed with open armsby the community. There are manyGOplayers that live in remote areas, making it harder for them to partake in raids when the closest gym could be miles away. Others were dissatisfied with the Lobby-limitation. Reducing a Raid to 5 Remote Raid Battlers can make it more challenging for those hosting Raids against powerful Raid Bosses, such as Legendary and Mythical Pokemon.

What Are The Best Raids for Remote Raid Passes?
Despite the 5-per-Lobby limitation, Remote Raid Passes can be used to access any type of Raid.The best time to use themis when there’s a Pokemon Raid at a nearby Gym that trainers want to catchandif the Lobby has more than one-to-three people.
However, some Raids like1-star Raids(Pink Eggs) have Pokemon with only1500-3000 CP. These Raid Pokemon have the same amount of CP as Team GO Rocket Grunts. So, if trainers can win against them, they should haveno trouble taking on a 1-star Raid by themselves.
On the other hand, a 3-star Raid have Pokemon with11000+ CP. Despite Raids allowing trainers to usesix Pokemon, a Raid Boss with 5-digit CP can still provide a challenge. If trainers can’t knock out the Raid Pokemon but still have a Pokemon left, then it’s likely they’ll get kicked outwhen the timer is up. Thus, it may be better to take on 3-star Raids witha group of people.
Finally, Remote Raid Passes can be used forUltra Beast, Legendary,5-star, orMega Raids.Given the sheer difficulty of these Raids, it’s best not to use the Remote Pass unless trainers have a large group going into battle. Attempting difficult raids with a group of three people is about as useful as discarding their Remote Raid Pass.
In short:
It’s entirely possible to use a Remote Raid Pass, lose to the Pokemon, and wind up with nothing. This is essentially wasting a pass, so it’s best to save them rather than swiping them at every nearby Raid. Thanks to theraised prices of Remote Raid Passes, trainers are strongly advised to be selective with their Passes.
