At the height ofPokemon’s popularity in the late 90s, fast food restaurant Burger King ran a famous promotion where it gave awayPokemontoys and special gold cards that have become collector’s items.Pokemonfast food promotions continue to this day, with McDonald’s being the latest to find itself giving awayPokemonmerchandise. Last year,McDonald’s gave awayPokemontrading cards, which were later sold on eBay for ridiculous prices, and now it seems another McDonald’s/Pokemonpromotion is set to kick off in the near future.
This information is based on a supposedly leaked poster, so fans should take the information with a grain of salt. No official announcement has been made by McDonald’s or The Pokemon Company, but the poster looks legitimate, and it matches up with a previous leak aboutMcDonald’s running anotherPokemonpromotion. This poster originates from Reddit user Lewd-flower, who works at McDonald’s in Canada, so it seems the previously-leaked UK promotion will also be taking place in North America.

Assuming the poster is legitimate, thePokemonMatch Battle promotion at McDonald’s will apparently run from August 9 to September 26, and it will feature seven weeks of limited-time items for fans to get with their Happy Meals. EachHappy Mealcomes with fourPokemongame cards, a spinner, and a special coin. The Pokemon featured on the spinners are Rowlet (with purple and yellow variants), Smeargle (green and pink), Pikachu (green and red), Victini (dark blue and light blue), Gossifleur (pink and yellow), and Growlithe (dark blue and green).
Pokemon McDonald’s 2022 Promotion Start Date
The image is a little burry, so it’s difficult to make out thePokemonon the cards, but they appear to be some of the Pokemon featured on the spinners. One would assume that all the Pokemon on the spinners would also be on the cards, but it’s also possible that only four cards in total exist for the promotion. There will also be some books available through the Happy Meal Readers program, with thePokemon Essential Handbook,It’s All Downhill, andThe Stinky Cheesethe titles that will be available.
Whenever the official announcement comes, it should offerPokemonfans more clarification about the finer details of the latest McDonald’s promotion. It will be interesting to see if this new McDonald’s promotion triggers a similar response as the last one, with McDonald’s running out of stock andscalpers selling thePokemonmerchandise onlinefor inflated prices.Pokemonfans that want to get their hands on these items should plan accordingly.
