A recent episode of the latestPokemonanime,Pokemon Horizons, has revealed what the inside of a Luxury Ball looks like. For many gamers, it’s hard to know what Game Freak’s hit RPG series is about without being aware of the existence of Poke Balls. However, not many people know that there’s been roughly 38 different Poke Balls seen during the series' tenure. These include the more well-known standard Poke ball, the Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball, but there are also lesser known variations such as the Origin Ball, Jet Ball, and Strange Ball. There’re enoughPoke Balls to allow fans to only use their favorites, which helps make their critters even more special to them. The Luxury Ball in particular was introduced in Generation 3, and tends to retail on the more expensive side. However, investing in this unique capture device is worthwhile as it comes with the bonus effect of helping Pokemon become friendly to trainers faster. This effect is also permanent, unlike the other special effects other balls offer. Apart from helping trainers net the powerfulaffection bonus found in recentPokemongamesquicker, not much was known about the Luxury Ball until this episode ofPokemon Horizonsaired.RELATED:One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC Rumored Feature Could Repeat Gen 8’s SuccessIn episode 5 ofPokemon Horizons, a brief sectionshows Quaxlyrelaxing inside a Luxury Ball, revealing the inside to resemble what looks like a VIP club for the creature inside. It’s lit up by a disco ball with plush couches on either side of a small table. Behind the couches, a set-up where the captured pocket monster can help themselves to drinks can be seen. Quaxly, in particular, has made itself an orange drink of some kind.
Due toPokemon’snature as a kids' franchise, not many people would expect the image of a small club to be inside a Poke Ball designed to raise friendship levels between thePokemon and its trainer. It’s definitely surprising and rather hilarious. Fans are already having fun replacing Quaxly with more funny critters to make jokes about running into them in a club-like setting. At the very least, it would be hard for a creature to remain aggressive towards its catcher as being thrown into a Luxury Ball seems rather disarming by default.
What’s important for fans to keep in mind, however, is that the anime isn’t always canon to the games, and vice versa. There’s a strong chance that this design for the Luxury Ball may be how it works in the TV series, but not in the officialPokemontitles developed by Game Freak. It’s very unlikely that games likeScarletandVioletwould ever show the inside of the Poke Balls, soPokemonplayers are free to accept the anime’s version until Game Freak says otherwise.
