This weekend,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will have a limited time to test their mettle against a new seven-star Tera raid boss and capture it if successful. The new boss will once again carry the Mightiest Mark and will givePokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers a vast number of rewards upon its defeat.
The new seven-star Tera raid battle is just the fifth to be added toPokemon Scarlet and Violetsince launch.Unlocking seven-star raidsrequires trainers to have also unlocked six-star raids, which can only be done after reaching the post-game, taking part in the Academy Ace Tournament at least once, and defeating a handful of five-star raids either alone or with help from other trainers online. As was the case with Cinderace and Greninja before it, this new seven-star Tera raid battle will pit trainers against another beloved starter Pokemon from past games.

From now until 23:59 UTC on Sunday, March 19,Pokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers can face Decidueye the Unrivaled, which has the Flying-type as its Tera type. Traditionally a Grass and Ghost dual-type Pokemon, Decidueye is known as the Arrow Quill Pokemon and is the fully evolved form of Rowlet, the Grass-type starter fromPokemon Sun and Moon. It is also the first Grass-type starter to be featured as a seven-star Tera raid boss at the time of writing. Players that take down Decidueye the Unrivaled will earn a lot of EXP Candy, some Flying Tera Shards, and other rare rewards.
Decidueye the Unrivaled has the hidden ability Long Reach, which grants it immunity to abilities and items that would harm it for using contact moves. Its move set inPokemon Scarlet and Violetincludes Leaf Blade, Brave Bird, Spirit Shackle, and Swords Dance, but it can also use Feather Dance, Air Cutter, and Low Kick throughout the fight. Unlike its predecessors, this boss will not use a stat-enhancing move at the start of the battle. However, once its shield is up after taking enough damage, it will begin to use two moves in one turn.
How to Beat Decidueye Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To counter Decidueye the Unrivaled, a team of level 100 Pokemon is highly recommended, with strong Electric-type attackers such as Miraidon leading the charge. Coupled with a support Pokemon such as Clodsire that can negate the effects of Swords Dance via Haze and lower Decidueye’s attack further with Chilled Water, coordination and tenacity will be the keys to success against this new challenge inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
However, players that miss out on this weekend’s event will have another chance soon to face Decidueye the Unrivaled, as it will return on the weekend of March 24. WhilePokemon Violetplayers will have an easier timegetting their hands on a Miraidonfor the battle, players of both versions can team up and see if they have what it takes to master this challenge.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now for Nintendo Switch.
