Summary
It has been nearly nine years since development for BioWare’sDragon Age: Dreadwolfbegan, having gone on this long mostly due to staff turnovers, delays, and changes to the fundamental design of the game. However, 2024 is finallyDreadwolf’s year, as BioWare will be doing an officialDragon Age: Dreadwolfreveal this summer — possibly on June 7. It’s unclear yet what will be revealed during the summer event, but a trailer and release date are expected. That may not be all thatDragon Age: Dreadwolfhas to offer this year, either, as recent reports have suggested a possible 2024 release for the game.
In episode 339 of Game Mess Decides, Jeff Grubb made claims that BioWare was aiming for a late 2024 release forDragon Age: Dreadwolf. While this has not been officially confirmed, anything is possible at this point, especially with the big reveal happening this summer. WhetherDreadwolfis released this year or next, it’s possible to speculate on a potential release window for it based on BioWare’s release history, especially when it comes to some of its biggest games.
Predicting Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s Release Window
BioWare’s Release Pattern Makes Dreadwolf’s Launch Date Somewhat Predictable
It has been five years since BioWare’s last IP,Anthem, launched and almost a decade since its lastDragon Agetitle, soDragon Age: Dreadwolfhas been a long time coming. For the most part, there is a fairly predictable pattern in BioWare’s release dates, which makes it all the more possible to speculate on a possible release window forDreadwolf, even if it isn’t released until 2025:
Apart from a few outliers, titles from BioWare’s biggest franchises — namely,Dragon AgeandMass Effect—are generally released in either November or March. These are both fairly typical release windows for AAA games, taking advantage of the holiday and spring seasons. Based on this launch pattern,Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s release window seems all but clear.
When Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Could Be Released
When considering BioWare’s launch pattern, there are two differentpossible release windows forDragon Age: Dreadwolf. If Jeff Grubb’s reports are true, and BioWare is aiming for a late 2024 release forDreadwolf, it may launch sometime in November 2024. On the other hand, if BioWare opts for a later release, it likely wouldn’t be any later than 2025. WithDreadwolf’s full reveal happening this summer, BioWare could be planning to release the game very soon.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s official release date hasn’t been officially disclosed, but it more than likely will be during the game’s full reveal this summer. Additionally, as BioWare has made it clear thatDragon Age: Dreadwolfis being developed with newcomers in mind, those who have yet to experienceDragon Agemay find a home inDreadwolfas well.
