Many in the gaming community have long anticipated the remake of the cult classicDemon’sSouls. Since the game’s initial release back in 2009, it not only became the precursor to the popularDark Soulsseries, but also received a sizable, dedicated group of fans. Now, with the remake ofDemon’s Soulsjust a couple months away from its release, some disconcerting news has begun to surface.

Ever sinceBluepoint Gamesinitially unveiled the existence of theDemon’s Soulsremake during the PS5 reveal event, numerous fans of the original game have been eagerly looking forward to the game’s release later this year. Bluepoint’s remake ofShadow of the Colossuswas well received by many in the gaming community, thus making the remake ofDemon’s Soulshighly anticipated by numerous fans. Though, fans may not be playing the game at the quality they want to.

According to a recent report made by Digital Foundry, the remake ofDemon’s Soulswill not meet the standard next-gen expectations in terms of graphical quality. All next-gen games are expected to run at 4K 60fps, whereasDemon’s Soulscan reportedly only run at 1440p 60fps. This news comes in stark contrast to theimpressive gameplay footage ofDemon’s Soulsshown at the recent PS5 event.

For those who care immensely about video quality and frame rates, if this news is true, then it is rather unfortunate. Especially considering that there arecurrently no plans to port theDemon’s Soulsremake to PC, thus there will be no way for players to access widespread mods to enhance the graphics to the quality that they want and their monitor or television supports.

Although, having said all of this, it is important to take this news with a grain of salt. After all, the game is still practically two months away from release. Therefore, the developers still have plenty of time to iron out any sort of graphical hiccups the game may or may not have. Though, this could potentially increase theDemon’s Souls' game file size, making it larger than it already is.

In any case, 1440p is only one echelon below 4K video quality, so for most players, this difference in video quality should not be too big of a discrepancy. That is of course, if the game can only run at 1440p, in which case, it’s still ultimately a massive increase in quality compared to thePS3 version ofDemon’s Souls.

Demon’s Soulsis set to launch on November 12th, 2020 on PS5.
