Summary
Sony has revealed three new metallic covers for itsPS5console and DualSense controllers, namely the Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver colors, as part of a Deep Earth collection. Each looks impressive and would go a long way in personalizing someone’s PS5 collection, though it’s hardly comparable to therecent sales ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2PS5 consoles.
Alongside showing off these new colors, Sony also confirmed the pre-order and release dates for these. Fans should take note that thePS5Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue Colors release in a few months, but the Sterling Silver Color will be made available in early 2024.

Interested parties will be able to pre-order all three of these Deep Earth colors on October 4, with covers costing $59.99 and controllers costing $74.99. Following this pre-order date, the PS5 Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue colors (both console cover and controller) will be released on November 3, while the Sterling Silver colors will drop on January 26 next year. Each one will feature a metallic finish, with the Volcanic Red having a strong red tone, the Cobalt Blue having a strong blue tone with underlying touches of purple, and the Silver set having a blue undertone to the silver. To really emphasize how popular new controllers are,Xbox recently revealed an Astral Purple color, and it seems fans on both sides of the aisle are excited about these customization options.
As far as hardware goes, this was pretty much it for the PlayStation State of Play, but several games also took the stage. The biggest were indubitablySpider-Man 2andFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The former showed off some gameplay, worldbuilding elements, and exploration, as well as confirmed a whopping total of 65 suits, building hype for its release date in October. In general, the big AAA games didn’t really overshadow the smaller reveals either, which shows how well-paced and executed this show was. ForFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, several key details were shown, gameplay and more, and its February 2024 release date was confirmed. This means fans will be able to play the upcoming title with either the Red, Blue, or Silver covers and controllers if they wish.
Another big reveal wasTales of Arise’s Beyond the Dawn DLC, which introduces a new character and thrusts the party into another conflict of sorts. More details are to be revealed, but since it releases in November, fans will be able to check it out with the Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue colors, again if they wanted to.
