If there’s one thing that setsRainbow Six Siegeapart from its otherRainbow Sixcompanions is how their setpieces can sometimes be extremely atmospheric to the point of immersion, and this is what theFavelaMap does. Introduced in Operation Skull Rain, this map features a packed street block as its premise, taking players all the way to Brazil for a rich tactical experience.

In thisRainbow Six Siegemap, players get a fullRainbow Sixexperience complete with complex passageways, high vantage points, and extremely destructible areas for both teams. Considering all the possibilities offered by the map, just how should players approach the Favela Map?
Favela: More Flexibility, Adaptability
Compared to other maps, the Favela rework has just done wonders to make the map extremely accessible to both sides. Unlike other maps withexpected metas and strategies, the rather “open” nature of Favela makes it a bit more accessible for players, allowing for more creative strategies on both the offense and defense. Here are some optimal strategies:
Basic Defense: 2F Going 1F For Rotations
Considering the way site selection was established, it’s clear that 2F or Second Floor is the best way to gofor the defense. In terms of rotations, the ideal Defender routes to take would be securing the 2F first and then going down to 1F or First Floor afterwards.
For more specifics, the ideal protection route would be securing 2F Storage and Coin Farm, and then 2F Coin Farm and Bunks, before rotating into 1F Pink Kitchen or Pink Apartment. With the right defensive strategies, the player’s defenses won’t be able to leave any openings for the Attackers to secure the vantage point from their entrances.
Reinforcements: Block 2F Entry Points
Given the recommended defensive rotation for Defenders, there are particular ideal basic reinforcements that players need to secure should they want to protect their sites in 2F. The key here is to make it cost something for the Attackers to secure map control, and the right barricading in this context means denying Attackers proper entry into key areas in 2F. Ideal barricade sites are:
Reinforcement: Block 2F Line Of Sight
Aside from securing entryways to give Defense a better chance of rotating, it’s important tosecure the defense from external forcesas well. Windows still provide vulnerability on part of the Defenders, which means these need to be reinforced as best as possible to deny access to peeking locations. Ideal barricade sites are:

Reinforcement: Focus On 1F Pink Then Expand
Interestingly enough, among the many areas in 1F, thebest place to reinforce in the context of protectionwould probably be 1F Pink Kitchen and Pink Apartment considering that there’s a lot less areas to contest here compared to the 1F Blue and 1F Green areas above it in the map. Practically speaking, the only access points to 1F Pink Kitchen would be the 1F Pink Kitchen Window, 1F Yellow Window, and 1F Weed Window. Afterward, an ideal move is to expand the defense to ensure that Defenders have room to roam around should the enemy be able to take control of 1F Pink:
Defender Operators: Barricade Is Key
After reinforcing key areas in Favela, it helps to consider which Operators to use in order to capitalize the remaining offensive options for Attackers. Considering basic reinforcements in both 1F and 2F, it helps tofunnel opponents into vulnerable points for maximum carnage. Good Operators in this regard would likely be:
Basic Attack: Go For The Heavy Attack
Given the layout of the Favela, especially on the higher stories, it makes sense for Attackers tostage their offensefrom the 2F’s more open areas - particularly 2F Heavy Red Stairs, 2F Heavy Trash Stairs, and 2F Heavy Storage Side. Some may attempt to take advantage of the 2F Yellow Stairs and 2F Small Office, but they don’t provide as many modes of entry compared to the other locations.

Through these attacking points, players can start predicting where Defenders can put their reinforcement and ensure they allot enough of their resources to secure a heavy attack. That way, Defenders are forced to retreat from their original positions to defend the major points.
Offense: Consider Practical Plant Sites
Since Attackers are expected to not just breach through the Defender’s defenses but to actually be able to plant the payload, it helps to consider that there are practical sites in Favela immediately open for planting provided players know how to carefully approach them. Here are the ideal planting sites:
Offense: Hard Push Lineup Is Key
Similar to most maps, it’s important for Favela Attackers to get hard on the breaching, especially in the face of multiple defensive barricades and setups across different angles. As such, whereas Defenders usually need to rely on strategic spots, Attackersneed to be more practicalin terms of their approach. Line-up wise, Favela Attackers need the following:
Attacker Operators: Prepare For Multiple Attacks
When it comes to choosing the right Operators for a Favela Attacker team, it helps to pick Operators that can hold off on their own and fulfill various destructible duties regardless of their point of attack. As such, here are recommended Operators that are able to both secure integral Favela rooms and eliminate Defenders in charge of them:
