Red Dead Redemption 2initially released in October 2018, allowing then-only console players to live out their cowboy lives before the game released on PC and Stadia. Despite how long it has been since release and the wide availability of the game, a lot of the Wild, Wild West remains undiscovered. There are still plenty ofmysteries and secrets inRed Dead Redemption 2that players are trying to piece together, and sometimes there’s just random events that players don’t experience multiple playthroughs in.
For example, oneRed Dead Redemption 2player on their third playthroughrecently discovered an odd couple in Valentine for themselves, which leads to a hilarious scene that’s over a minute long. Now, another player has discovered a rare encounter that many may never see by camping in the right place at the right time.

Redditor Technical-Win2277 recently posted their discovered on theRed Dead Redemptionsubreddit. To initiate this rare encounter, they had decided to set up a camp on some hill near the Trapper, and then two men end up approaching them. Other than the subtitles revealing they are of the Murfree Brood, the first man to approach seems harmless enough. He’s wearing overalls but no shirt, thus asking to warm his bones. Then, in the player’s peripheral, they soon see another Murfree Brood man standing with a gun pointed at the player.
What follows is a “message” from the Murfree Brood that, if Arthur Morgan and his gang travel into Murfree country again, they will kill him. For the most part, Morgan doesn’t really react to the “message” only chipping in that it’s a free country at one point. Either way, it’s a short but sweet scene that many could have easily missed inRed Dead Redemption 2.
After all, the Murfree Brood plays a relatively small, if important, role inRDR2. After theDutch Van Der Linde gang returns from Guarma, they take refuge and set up a new camp by rooting the Murfree Brood out of their home in Beaver Hollow. After the gang moves on, the Murfree Brood moves on and they are dead by no means, but they are a small threat throughout the rest of the game.
They also tend to stand out from otherRed Dead Redemption 2NPCs, as at one point they are described as, “horribly inbred yokels who murder, loot and pillage all over.” This is reflected by their in-game ability to take shotgun shots to the chest, their tendency to be disfigured in some way, and their mistreatment ofhorses inRed Dead Redemption 2. Either way, they are certainly not pleasant, but Arthur can clearly handle them.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
