Lance McDonald is a well-known modder in theSoulscommunity for things like his60FPSBloodbornepatch. According to McDonald, theDemon’s Souls Remakehas no new land to explore, as it uses the same file structure of the original. The names of items, enemies, objects, and more are all exactly the same, and in the exact same folder location as the originalDemon’s Souls. This all points to the game being as much of a 1-to-1 as possible.
With theDemon’s Souls Remakereportedly going goldrecently, it’s likely that if actual files have been made available to the likes of McDonald that the information is final. If this is the case, fans can look forward to a genuinely authentic remake, but without fresh new content.
For fans, this shouldn’t be a big issue, as many considerDemon’s Soulsto be the superior SoulsgameoverDark Souls, for example. The game has a great HUB area, more freedom in gameplay, and a dreadful and gorgeous atmosphere, one that the PS5 looks to be capturing remarkably well.
The excitement level forDemon’s Soulsis undeniable. While new content sounds nice, the core game is such a classic that fans will be happy to replay the game with visuals that truly look next-gen. While the report from McDonald should be taken with a grain of salt for now, it certainly would be more of a surprise for the game to have new content than to not. So until proven otherwise, theDemon’s Souls Remakeis simply going to be more of the same, which definitely isn’t a bad thing.
