Summary

Players will be able to enable proximity chat inFortnite’s Creative game mode soon. In the early days,Fortnitewas exclusively a PvE game through Save the World, though things wouldn’t really take off until the Battle Royale game mode arrived a few months later. As the game’s popularity increased, Epic Games decided to explore more options withFortnite. The Playground game mode was a hit, as it allowed fans to create their matches with a small group of friends and customize certain features, such as fall damage and friendly fire, in order to have fun on Athena island, the OGFortnitemap.

Given the success of Playground mode, Epic took things further, and turned it into Creative, one of the most popularFortnitegame modes. Creative has evolved to a point that studios have starteddeveloping games exclusively inFortnitewith the UEFN (Unreal Engine for Fortnite) tool. Even thoughFortnitebecame popular thanks to its Battle Royale, its other game modes are just as complex and bring in thousands of players daily, which is why Epic Games continues to add new content with regular patches and focuses on them just as much.

On April 9, version 29.20 went live and as soon as the update was out, dataminers got to work in order to share with the community everything that was added to the game with the most recent patch. Leakers shared that proximity chat would be coming toFortnite’s Creative mode. It is unknown when the feature will go live, but since it was added to the game files, it might be implemented sooner rather than later. On the other hand, players have been waiting for theKratos skin to return toFortnitefor a while now, and even though it was added to the Item Shop tabs a few weeks ago, it still hasn’t made a comeback.

According to HYPEX, proximity chat will only be available for Creative mode. Some players were hopeful that when this feature came toFortniteit would be available in the Battle Royale game mode, especially considering how wellCall of Duty: Warzone’s proximity chatworks in a Battle Royale scenario. However, this feature isn’t for everyone, so it’s understandable that Epic Games is choosing to test in Creative first.

Which Fortnite Game Modes Will Include Proximity Chat Support?

There aren’t many details about this feature, except foriFireMonkey’s screenshotsof the settings that will be available once proximity chat becomes available. It seems that players will be able to toggle it on and off at any time, and they will be able to set a preferred voice chat distance. For players who enjoy proximity chat, popular CreativeFortniteparty gamessuch as Prop Hunt should be more exciting than ever.

In late 2022,Epic Games introduced Cabined Accounts toFortniteto provide a safer and more controlled experience for younger players. Cabined Accounts have restrictions that prevent users from entering competitive matches, using text chat, and voice chat. Guardians shouldn’t have to worry about proximity chat, as Cabined Account owners most likely won’t be able to enable this feature at all.
