Even thoughImmortals: Fenyx Risingmay not have made quite as many headlines as some other Ubisoft properties, such asAssassin’s Creed, the game seems to have performed well, according to sources. The action-adventure title offered a fun, lightweight romp through Ancient Greek myth that anyone could jump into and enjoy.

Now, however, one of the more well-known leakers in the gaming industry claims thatImmortals: Fenyx Risingis due for a sequel, and they also claim that the game is already in the pre-production stages at this time. While not much is known about the project yet, fans of the first game may have plenty to look forward to should the leak be true.

The idea of Ubisoft having theImmortals: Fenyx Risingsequel in production comes from Tom Henderson, one of the more reliable gaming industry leakers.Henderson previously leaked information aboutThe Division: Heartland, as well as a wide variety of other projects, and he has already been established as a generally trustworthy source on the topic. Granted, Henderson didn’t have much to share about theImmortalssequel, other than the fact that it’s being made and that Ubisoft is currently in the process of hiring more staff to work on it.

Often referenced as one of thebest games to play forZeldafans,Immortals: Fenyx Risingwas one of Ubisoft’s more acclaimed releases of the past couple of years. It received widespread accolades and Ubisoft was praised for its successes. While far from perfect,Immortalsshowed that the popular French publishing house wasn’t completely averse to taking intellectual property risks.

The fact that there might be a sequel in active development shouldn’t be particularly odd, especially since the game proved it could host a wide variety of mythologies and fantasies with ease.Immortals' Lost Gods DLCadded a new twistto the game, and a sequel that’s designed around supporting a more free-form and long-term post-launch content schedule could prove particularly fertile for Ubisoft, which gives more credence to Henderson’s claims.

Coincidentally, one ofImmortals: Fenyx Rising’s strongest features is that it allowed Ubisoft to produce a game that focuses purely on mythology and fantastical adventuring, without thenarrative bloat inherent toAssassin’s Creed, which some people feel has been getting overly contrived as of late. The hypotheticalFenyx Risingsequel could, therefore, deliver the sort of experience that other Ubisoft games cannot, though fans of the original may wish to wait and see what comes of the rumor.

Immortals Fenyx Risingis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
