Summary

ASkyrimplayer defeated one of the most iconic enemies in the game in a strangely cinematic way. WhileSkyrimhas no shortage of memorable fights, it could be argued that almost everyone remembers their first encounter with a Frost Troll. Thelong climb to High Hrothgar inSkyrimis a set piece all by itself, and not only does it aim to prepare the player for their meeting with the Greybeards, but it also seeks to challenge them by pitting a Frost Troll against the fledgling Dragonborn.

ThoughSkyrimplayers can eventually out-level a frost troll, those who focus on the main story will likely experience it as the game’s first real challenge (even if they ended up facing a dragon outside the gates of Whiterun moments ago). Trolls inSkyrimmimic their typicalDungeons & Dragonscounterpart, in that they regenerate health, and are vulnerable to fire. During low levels, a prolonged fight against a Frost Troll capable of restoring two health points per second can be fatal, and their physical damage is nothing to scoff at either.

Thankfully, XPowersergX is a more seasoned Dragonborn, who managed to dispatch a Frost Troll guarding a bridge with dramatic flair. They used their Ebony Sword, Ebony Shield, and a trusty Torch to do the deed, ending the combat with an always satisfyingSkyrimkill camin first person. Unbeknownst to some players, a Torch can be used to set Frost Trolls on fire, making it a valuable tool when out adventuring inSkyrim, as just a single bash does the trick.

The slow motion in the video is unlocked by investing points in Block, allowing the Dragonborn to respond to an enemy’s power attack with ease. While Block can also be paired withTwo-Handed Weapons inSkyrim, a standard sword-and-board build tends to get the most out of its perk tree, with Shield Charge, in particular, enabling some unorthodox stealth builds.

WithSkyrimbeing over 12 years old, it’s an impressive feat that Bethesda’s sandbox remains as timeless as ever. Not only does it still have a thriving community, but it even hasmore players thanStarfieldon Steam, the most recent Bethesda title. It’s fair to say that the nextElder Scrollsgame has big shoes to fill, and though it may be a while until players can start their next adventure in Tamriel,Skyrimhas done an impressive job at keeping them busy.
