Keeping with that trend, a new TV spot just dropped forSonic the Hedgehog 2, and it flashes some new footage by quicker than an azure rodent trying to grab the last chili dog. From an intense fight to an intense (but also probably at least a little fun) chase, it’s got just enough fresh material to hopefully tide fans over during their agonizing wait. Don’t worry,it definitely features Knuckles.

The 30-second spot doesn’t waste any time, going through the motions with a number of clips thatdiehardSonicfans are likely already familiar with. Sonic himself stretching and snacking before getting down to business, that one shot of him bouncing through a corridor that could be straight from any of the games, it’s mostly pretty standard. But the real scoop is always in the details.

One piece of new footage shows off Sonic doing a little flip and falling a bit before snowboarding down a slope, looking surprisingly gleeful considering he’s being chased by a horde of presumably murderous robots. No, the snowboarding isn’t a new clip. No, the little flip isn’t new either. They were both featured in thelast trailer forSonic the Hedgehog 2. Just the half-second of him falling before cutting to the snowboarding shot is new, as is his “time to go for a ride” line. Look, it’s not clickbait if it’s at least a little funny.

The second tidbit of freshness that definitely warrants an entire article is a slightly extended shot from the introduction of Knuckles seen in the previous trailer. TheIdris Elba-voiced maybe-villainpulls off a superhero landing that would make Deadpool himself proud before posting up for that still super awesome self-fist-bump. The rest of the TV spot seems to recycle footage already seen in previous trailers and previews. But hey, it’s a TV spot, not a worldwide trailer. Besides, what blockbuster marketing team puts their pièce de résistance between reruns ofFrasier?

Sure, it’s not some world-shattering revelation. But anySonic the Hedgehogfans out thereshould already be super hyped for the sequel, and something like this is just to keep things at that level rather than something of Mentos and Diet Coke proportions. So keep that enthusiasm high, and maybe grab a chili dog or some suspiciously-placed gold rings for authenticity’s sake.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2is coming to theaters on April 8th, 2022.
