On Tuesday night, Sony Pictures delivered an absolutely loaded new trailer forSpider-Man: No Way Home. Fans have been waiting for a more detailed look at the highly-anticipated film ever since the first trailer dropped, and Sony lived up to its promise of offering more in the second one. With the Multiverse in focus, the second trailer offers just the right amount of detail for fans to analyze, and holds back just enough for them to look forward to.
A day before the newSpider-Man: No Way Hometrailer was released, Sony was building the hype around it already. The studio posted a clip of the lead actors Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon watchingthe new action-packedNo Way Hometrailer, and reacting to the various reveals in it. Fans have had several theories since the film was announced, and they were pleased, to say the least, to see one of them come to fruition.

It has been known that the Multiverse would be explored inSpider-Man: No Way Homesince the official synopsis was released by the studio, which obviously meant that fans would have an opinion on the potential plot. Even beforethe first trailer was revealed, fans were already talking about the return of potential villains from otherSpider-Manfilms. With the Multiverse in action, it definitely seemed possible, and the latestSpider-Man:No Way Hometrailer all but confirmed it.
As part of the three-minute trailer, fans get to see thevarious villains that the friendly neighborhood Spider-Manwill be going up against. The list includes Doctor Otto Octavius, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Electro, and Sandman. There have been rumors of Sony uniting the Sinister Six for the upcoming film, and it already seems to have five villains on the roster. It remains to be seen if a sixth one will be joining the fold.
While fans had already seenDoc Ock show up in the first trailer, and he features prominently in both official posters of the film so far, the new trailer offers a more detailed look at the character and even an interesting interaction between him and Holland’s Spider-Man. It would be safe to say that he will most likely be an integral part of the much-awaited film.
WhenAlfred Molina confirmed his return as Doc OckinSpider-Man: No Way Home, fans were excited to see the epic villain come back to fight Spidey once again. He seems to be the most important villain in the film, with one scene in the trailer offering a look at Peter Parker, MJ and Ned Leeds having an important conversation with him. It almost seems like Doc Ock will be working alongside Holland’s Parker as an ally to resolve the chaos that the Multiverse has created. Of course, the conversation begins with the three lead characters laughing at how silly Doc Ock’s name sounds.
At first, Doc Ock also seems confused when he sees Parker’s face for the first time. That moment is one to remember as it sums up the Multiverse in a split second. In Doc Ock’s world,Tobey Maguire is Spider-Man, and Holland is a stranger to him. While he dons a similar suit, Holland is not the Spider-Man that Doc Ock has fought in the past.
The different versions, orVariants as the Disney Plus seriesLokidescribedit, of Spider-Man are a true representation of the Multiverse. Keep in mind that fans have been theorizing for months now that Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be a part ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, and will play their versions of the fan-favorite character. If the new trailer is anything to go by, it seems highly likely that this fan theory could also be true, considering the different villains have already popped up. But, it hasn’t been confirmed just yet as the two actors do not appear in the trailer, which isn’t a surprise as Sony would like to hold on to that card till the film is released.
Another important aspect of the trailer is the arrival of Green Goblin, aka Norman Osborn. While the first trailer offered a glimpse of his iconic pumpkin bomb rolling onto a highway, andthe official posters of the filmshowed him hovering in the background, the new trailer offers the first close-up shot of the villain. It seems like Sony has kept his look intact, and he is seen wearing a suit similar to the one Willem Dafoe wore in 2002’sSpider-Man.
However, that’s not all. While Variants are being discussed in the trailer, a potential second version of Green Goblin is spotted. This Variant is seen using the same glider, but he sports goggles and a dark suit. Fans have seen a similar version of the villain inSpider-Man 3andThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, both of which were Norman’s son Harry. So, maybe Spidey will have to tackle more than one Goblin.
The trailer offers some magnificent shots of Holland’s Spider-Man going up against the villains. Towards the end of the trailer, Electro, Sandman, The Lizard, and Green Goblin are seen fighting Spidey at the same time, and it makes one wonder how he manages to get through that fight on his own. A little help from some counterparts would be much appreciated, and what better than havingtwo other versions of Spider-Man, and potentially even Daredevil, to offer just that. Fans will likely have to wait till the film releases to see if any more heroes will be showing up.
