Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versestar Oscar Isaac believes Pedro Pascal would be a good addition to the Spider-Verse cast and story. Better yet, he thinks Pascal would fit the profile of an aged and cranky iteration of Spider-Man.
Isaac, who playedSpider-Man2099/Miguel O’Hara inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, explained that because those behind the film franchise have been so good at finding the right actors to play their characters in the film franchise, he believes Pascal would fit as an old iteration of Spider-Man.

While talking withGQ, Isaac explained why Pascal would fit when asked if theSpider-Versefranchise should add anyone else to the cast. “I don’t know. They’re so brilliant at finding the right person for the right character, but maybe Pedro Pascal. Let’s find something for him. He should be a Spider-Person, like a cranky, old Spider-Person.” Isaac did not discuss other details on what kind Spider-Man Pascal should play.
It’s been documented that Isaac and Pascal are close friends in Hollywood. The two of them appeared together in the filmTriple Frontierin 2019, and they have played main characters in theStar Warsuniverse, as Isaac played Poe Dameron in the franchise’s latest trilogy from 2015 to 2019, while Pascal became the lead in theStar Warsspinoff,The Mandalorian. However, they have not shown up together in anyStar Warsproperty. Both have also dabbled in superhero media, as Isaac has been involved in multiple Marvel franchises, like Apocalypse inX-Men: Apocalypse, the titular character inMoon Knight, and of course, Spider-Man 2099 inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. On the other hand, Pascal played Max Lord inWonder Woman 1984.
Even though Isaac floated this as an off-hand comment, who’s to say Sony won’t consider it? Pascal has made a name for himself over the past several years since his big break inThe Mandalorian. He’s one of Hollywood’s biggest names because he participated in other popular recent projects likeThe Last of UsandThe Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He’s a popular actor who could add even more tothe popularSpider-Manfranchise, so why not?
Remember that the whole concept of Miles Morales started in 2010 because of a throwaway joke inCommunitywhen Donald Glover’s character, Troy Barnes, woke up from his bed wearing a Spider-Man shirt. Look where it’s led to now. Morales was not initially received well by comic book readers. However, with the right people writing the story and playing the character, his credibility has gone way up over the past half-decade, which in turn has elevated Spider-Man’s already extreme popularity. Pascal could be includedin this expanding Spider-Verse, and he may not even play the character that Isaac proposed, but it could be yet another breakthrough for Spider-Man when it’s all said and done.
