Ahsoka, the upcomingStar Warsseries on Disney Plus, may feature a brand new Sith Inquisitor for the titular Togruta Jedi to contend with. Granted, this news is roughly as surprising as finding out thatThe Mandalorianseason 4 will include Grogu or that Marvel is making another movie at some point. But the new info also comes accompanied by a picture of the mysterious villain, and they certainly fit the part.
AhsokagivesStar Warsfans a look at Ahsoka Tano’s (Rosario Dawson) life afterReturn of the Jedi, years after she became a unanimous fan-favorite character inThe Clone Wars(voiced by Ashley Eckstein). Not only that, but it will also include the long-awaited live-action debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen. However, the show isn’t just about returning characters, as several new faces have already appeared in the various open and closed-door previews. This includes this new Inquisitor, who ironically has not revealed their face.

Empirehas revealed a new image from the upcoming series, seemingly depicting a never-before-seen Sith Inquisitor set to debut inAhsoka. While their face is covered, their Inquisitor status is unmistakable thanks to the presence of the signature spinny double-bladed lightsaber that each other member of the sinister order has been seen wielding. It’s also worth mentioning that the striking armor feels reminiscent of a medieval knight, particularly in its slotted helmet and hefty shoulder pauldrons. This person will surely be a “Force” to be reckoned with.
The Inquisitors are a menacing presence inStar Warscanon. Inquisitors are all Force-sensitive, though their abilities vary. A good chunk of them were taken from the Jedi Order by Emperor Palpatine and tortured until they became twisted versions of their former selves. Others joined willingly, having grievances with the Jedi that the manipulative Emperor easily nurtured. Their main goal in pretty much every appearance is to hunt down Jedi who managed to survive the purge at the end of the Clone Wars, usually to end up killing them. But sometimes, they would also serve to recruit any surviving Jedi who seemed fit to join their ranks.
While many Inquisitors have already been killed by the timeAhsokatakes place in the timeline, others are seemingly around. Info about this one has not been revealed, but it tracks that the series would include onehunting Ahsoka since she survived the Order 66 purge. But how much of a role will they play? The series will also feature two new mysterious lightsaber-wielding characters by way of the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, and it looks like they’ll be filling a villain role of their own. Not to mention Thrawn, whom Ahsoka is hell-bent on finding along with the lost Jedi Ezra Bridger.
So plenty is going on inAhsoka. Some might say it looks like too much. But remember, this is coming fromThe Clone Warscreator Dave Filoni, who has proven his storytelling prowess time and time again. Not to mention,Filoni has confirmed a connection betweenAhsokaandStar Wars Rebels. So a lot of new and returning characters are to be expected. So fans should keep those hype levels up as the premiere draws nearer.
Ahsokais set to debut on Disney Plus in August 2023.
