Schreier confirmed that aStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicremake is in developmentin a discussion with MinnMax’s Ben Hanson. The full scope of theStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicremake was not revealed by Schreier, but he did reveal that the studio making the game is apparently Aspyr Media. This may very well clueKOTORfans in on what they should expect from the remake.

For the uninitiated, Aspyr is a studio primarily known for porting and remastering older games for modern platforms. In 2021 alone, Aspyr has worked onStubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulseas well asStar Wars: Republic Commando. In fact, Aspyr has had a hand in bringing a variety of olderStar Warsgames to modern platforms, and it was also responsible for theKOTORmobile ports.
SinceAspyr made theKnights of the Old Republicmobile ports, it makes sense that the studio is the one handling the remake. However, it remains to be seen if this remake will be a full-blown remake with completely redone graphics and things of that nature, or if it will be more of an enhanced port. Whatever the case may be,Star Wars Day is right around the corner, so if fans are lucky, maybe they will get some more specific details sooner rather than later.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republichas actually had a fairly limited release when it comes to traditional gaming platforms. Its initial launch saw it released for PC and the original Xbox, though it was eventually ported to Mac, Android, and iOS.Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republichas never been available on PlayStation or Nintendo platforms, so the remake would represent a unique opportunity to greatly expand the game’s audience.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicis still talked about to this day, and for good reason.
