Disney has been having a bumper year with its streaming originals, and its upcoming latest,Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, is the cause of much anticipation. As its debut gets nearer, the first character posters for Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were released today, marking one month until episodes start streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
The Mandalorianwas one of the streamer’s staple live-action shows. It was such a success that it has spawned anotherStar Warsspin-off focussing on fan-favorite Boba Fett, a bounty hunter who first appeared on the big screen in the 1980sThe Empire Strikes Back.The Book of Boba Fettwas announcedas a standalone series last December, after a surprise end-credits sequence in the season 2 finale ofThe Mandalorian. There has been a steady drip of trailers and more in the run-up to its release, with each morsel of information upping the anticipation.

The latest offering for expectant fans is the brand new character posters for the two leads of the show, Boba Fett (Temura Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). The series will apparently follow the bounty hunter and mercenary as they explore the underworld of the galaxy and return to the sands of Tatooine to claim the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate. The new posters show Boba and Fennec in all their suited glory, surrounded by what looks like the fierce Tatooine sands, teasing what’s to come. The various tidbits of promotional material released have had fans excited aboutthe increasingly helmet-less Boba Fett, though that isn’t the case for these posters. The iconic green helmet and suit are proudly on show, along with some very impressive wrist-rockets. The tweeted announcement fromThe Book of Boba Fettaccount also confirms that the series will consist of seven weekly episodes.
The posters have received an overwhelmingly positive reaction on social media, with many sharing their excitement. Indeed, there are lots ofreasons to look forward to the new Boba Fett series. The character had a fairly small role in the originalStar Warsfilms but proved to be popular with fans. Some believed he was under-utilized in the movies, but he got to make his mark when debuting inThe Mandalorian,showing impressive battling skills against the Stormtroopers and providing important support for Mando throughout. Little is known about the character’s past, giving writers the chance to really explore this lore with some creative and original storytelling. There is ample opporunity to make a thrilling series about the bounty hunter’s newfound career as a crime boss and his partnership with Fennec Shand.
While there are some detractors who thinkthe series may be too similar toThe Mandalorian, particularly in the costuming, the teasers that have been released have proven that anticipation is very high and audiences can’t wait for the character to get his well-deserved time in the limelight.
