As one of the most beloved farming sims,Stardew Valleyhas been a staple in many indie gamers libraries. There’s something magical yet calming about diving into the world ofStardew Valley, from the simple farming mechanics of growing crops and purchasing animals, to exploring the depths of caves where monsters linger, fans just can’t get enough of the experience. But sadly, there are only so many times that players can restart their farm. After enough times, players end up knowing how to completely maximize their experience, finish the desert and quarry cave with ease, and would have romanced, or platonically befriend, all characters in the game.

That’s where mods come in, and it not only helps players dive back into the beloved game, but bring a new experience to one of their favorite games. Whether it’s the simpleGrandpa Bed Modsthat play with the introduction cutscene, or one thatallows players to have over twenty dogs, there’s always a mod that brings the light back into a game. For example, one of the most in-depth and well-known mod is theStardew Valley Expanded(SVE), which brings in not only new characters, but a whole new map and quests for players to enjoy. While there are a lot of locations that players should check out, there are alsomore fishing locations and fish that can be caught, letting fans explore more of thebest farming sim out there.

Like the main game, players have an explorable area in the Northwest corner of Cindersap Forest. While the main game has a small pond on the far west end of it,SVEexpands on this area by shifting the pond closer to the entrance of the woods, creating a small creek into a bigger sized pond towards the south end. There is also more surface area to cover as well as more hardwood trunks players can cut down.
And instead of the pond being in front of the Old Master Cannoli statue, there are now some old and broken ruins. Not only does this area give players more room for fishing, but this provides a much-needed area to restock on hardwood supplies. The vanilla game allowed players to chop up six stumps, butSVEhas over ten.

Anew area added inSVEis the Shearwater Bridge, which connects the Valley to Grampleton Fields. Grampleton Fields is an optional part of the map that can be added or removed in the mod, but can be useful for those that want a large part of land where no NPCs go. Players can use this to farm wood, or collect hay.
The bridge itself overlooks a large river that is new toStardew Valley, giving players the opportunity to spend their free time catching some of the new fish added to the game.

Another new location inSVE, the Blue Moon Vineyard is south of Pelican Town and is a vineyard owned bySophia, one of the many new NPCs that is available to romance. The vineyard is open from 8am to 9pm if players are interested in chatting with Sophia, or purchasing any of her Blue Moon Wine or Quality Sprinklers.
There is also two locations near here that players can fish, one being the river that runs through Pelican town, and the other is the beach in front of the Vineyard. Here players can catch up to two of the new fish added inSVE.

For those that want to just a little more magic in their gameplay,befriending the new NPCLance can help them travel to a new location called the Fable Reef. The only way players can get to this little island in the ocean is by getting to Lance’s 8th heart event, thus unlocking this new area.
By either Warp Runes on the Farmor in the Wizards' tower, players can travel here to not only speak to the bachelor Lance, but fish till their hearts content for the several new fish located here.

The Crimson Badlands is a wasteland created by dark magic that has several corrupted monsters like fallen adventures, corrupted mummies and serpents. This area is on the Continent of Galdora, which also homes the Castle Village. This area is off-limits to players until they complete theEnchanted Grove questline.

Once players unlock it, however, there are several new spots available to them, such as the Badlands, the Village, an Iridium Quarry, and new fishing locations that are home to a couple of new fish.

The Adventurer’s Guild is in the both the main and modded version ofSV, however,SVEgives these adventurers a bigger spot on the map to call their own. While they still have their little shop where they sell items and sleep, they have a more whimsical area, and players can often see Marlon walking around the area near the creeks and trees.
There is more history and activity around this area, so much so that players can even catch a few unique fish to show off in their collection.

If players go West of Cindersap, they will come to a new area of the forest with a lot of trees and a river for fishing. Players can find a sword and artifacts in the southern section of the forest, as well as the entrance to both the Sprite Spring andthe Bear Shop.
Aurora’s Vineyard is also here, which is an abandoned home in the North end, where players can find an Ancient Doll and Soggy Newspaper, as well as some information on the previous owners. The river for fishing, and possibly catching three of the new fish, is at the Southwest corner of the forest.

In the Southwest of Cindersap Forest, players will be able to find the entrance of Junimo Woods, a secret area that is available after completing the Community Center. There are several Junimo Venders for players who can make their way through the maze, making it a great stop for players who want to see more of these cute forest creatures.
The Junimo venders sell anything from decorations and seeds, to rare fish and items. There is also a spot towards the end of the maze to fish for some new and amazing fish.

SVEgives players more opportunity to befriend and learn about the Adventurers Guild, and about Marlon. The mod gives Marlon a boat that players can soon have access to which leads them to the Highlands. This is also where players can meet Lance to start earning his trust and travel to the Fable Reef.
While there is a new fishing spot here for players to check out, be wary, as there are monsters that roam these woods as well. There are several different areas here, from the Ruins to the Caves, so players should take the time to adventure and fish all they can here.
This Spring is available to players after completing theMagic Ink questgiven by the wizard. Once completed, this area will open up in the Southeast corner within the West Cindersap Forest.
This spring provides players with more forageable items along with a couple of new fish for their collection. This spring also will start producing rare drops of Sweet Gem Berries. If players go behind the waterfall, they will find the Sprite Cave, where mushroomsand more items can be found.
