Summary
WhileStarfieldlets characters become space pirates (complete with a dedicated faction storyline), a player decided to take the concept even further by creating a more old-fashioned pirate ship. Out of all thefactions inStarfield, fans have been singing the praises of the Crimson Fleet the most. Much like any Bethesda title, the side quests are often more exciting than the main story, and the pirate-themed faction of the Crimson Fleet appears to stand head and shoulders above the rest.
However, players don’t need to join the Crimson Fleet in order to live a pirate’s life. With a well-equipped ship, they can open fire on any vessel cruising through the Settled Systems, oftenaccruing a high bounty inStarfieldfor doing so. They can capture these ships, and either sell or add them to their growing fleet, plundering any resources or items found in the ship’s inventory. The burglary and pick-pocketing ofThe Elder Scrollsgames has taken a more ambitious turn inStarfield, but there’s one specific feature that has truly captured the community’s heart.
The ship builder inStarfieldhas allowed players to let their creativity shine, and this certainly seems to be the case with knaivey, who managed to construct a spaceship resembling the pirate vessels of old. Instead of sails, white engines are hoisted upon the rig of the Picanha, and angled turrets make this design fully capable of engaging with even the toughest space skirmishes thatStarfieldcan throw at it. WhileStarfieldplayers have already made sailing ship designs before, knaivey’s build is one of the best ones yet.
WithStarfield’s official modding toolsreleasing in early 2024, the game may open up its burgeoning ship designer scene even further. From custom, more specialized parts, to fewer restrictions in terms of clipping – the community may see even more ambitious builds emerge in the coming months. While some mods have already loosened the limits ofStarfield’s ship builder, which allowed players to recreate larger vessels such as the Star Destroyer fromStar Wars, it’s very likely that this is only the tip of the iceberg in what the community will be able to do in a year from now.
Even thoughStarfieldis the lowest-rated Bethesda titleon Steam, it continues to be popular among players on all platforms, who see past the game’s flaws for the unique sandbox experience that it provides. Jumping from world to world, exploring the Settled Systems, it’s an extremely addictive gameplay loop – and for some players, being able to do so in a good old-fashioned sailing ship only adds to the experience.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
