Starfieldfeatures a unique currency of Credits, which players can use across the galaxy to barter and trade goods. However, since Credits aren’t the easiest thing to claim inStarfield, players might wonder what the worst things to buy are, and what things are truly a waste of Credits in a galaxy where everything seems to be for sale.

There are some things inStarfieldjust not worth buying, and players would be wasting theirhard-earned Creditsin doing so. Although the game may have a few exploits involving Credits, it will never be worth picking up these items and seeing Credits helplessly drain with no way to get them back.

5Nameless Crew Members

Across the galaxy, players can often find ship specialists hanging out at bars or other civilized spots in cities and towns. These nameless crew members can be hired by the player to join their crew, and provide them with bonuses for their ship’s functions and skills, yet, their asking price and lack of individualism are not worth it, especially when players canget married to named companions.

Players can find plenty of unique companions inStarfield, so making do with a specialist who doesn’t offer much other than a random Tier 1 skill just is not worth the price of a few thousand Credits, or the space on the ship that players might not have available.

4Incompatible Ship Parts

When it comes to shipbuilding inStarfield, some players might be confused about how it works. It’s expensive and pretty overwhelming, so players shouldn’t rush into it straight away, especially when each Ship Technician sells unique parts, designs, and company assets for the player to buy. Yet, players can also make the mistake of purchasing something obsolete, or completely incompatible with their current ship.

WithA, B, and C class ships, some players might spend so much money on a ship they can barely afford, and can’t even fly due to the skill requirement. It’s best to just get given the free ships in the meantime before investing in the wrong ships that will set players back hundreds of thousands of Credits that will have their pockets weeping, especially when they’ve spent so much on something that does not work as they intended.

3Inferior Weapons And Armor

Most Vendors inStarfieldwill sell an assortment of weapons, whether it’s a gun or something to hit things and people with. They also sell all kinds of armor, from spacesuits to boost packs. However, some of these items are notably worse than what the player is using. This could mean that the stats are far too low to see any value out of it, especially with some of thebest armor inStarfieldcoming from the earliest points in the game, like the Mark 1 spacesuit in the Lodge.

Weapons can also come in a unique variety, and players might want to embark on quests and missions to claim some of the best weapons inStarfieldwithout the need for thousands of Credits to purchase different guns, especially when players will want that money to spend on ammo to further the thrills of killing space pirates and alien bugs. It’s always best to check the stats of armor and weapons, not only the big number that says if it’s worse or better, but also the bonuses that said item provides, as although one piece of armor or weapon might have worse damage, it may have a perk that effectively doubles its use.

2Food And Drink Items

For another purchase from vendors, players can enter into the Aid category to find a select amount of food and drink items. Although these are visually stunning, and the models created are so life-like, they just aren’t worth the Credits for a few reasons. Aid items are supposed to keep the player alive, and most RPGs don’t exactly require the player to invest in food, so it’s best to just pick up health items that are more efficient, likeHealth Packs and Trauma Packsover an apple juice box or a slice of sealed cheese.

Food and drink items will waste not only the player’s Credits but also their inventory items. Players will end up holding too much mass with the assortment of foods, so it’s best to literally only purchase and carry the healing items that will give players a surge of healing so that they can stay in the fight, not items that will slowly heal them over time.

1Misc Items

It may seem obvious, but purchasing Misc Items inStarfieldis probably a bad idea. These items exist to fill up the world and add some unique areas to the game that do not feel empty. Whether it’s a notepad on a desk or an antique hockey stick to mantle on a wall, there are many kinds of Misc Items that exist with all manners of different pricing, but all with the same function: decoration.

There isn’t much to offer players outside ofdecorating their homesand ships or filling them with an assortment of plushies or other random oddities, so Misc Items are best left in the inventory of the vendor who is desperate to offload them for a few Credits.
