A new study claims to reveal the 10 most highly-anticipated game releases of January 2023. January is typically a slower month for the gaming industry in terms of new releases, butJanuary 2023 looks reasonably stacked. Gamers across all platforms have new titles to look forward to this month, including some rather high profile games.
A study by Top10Casinos, analyzing Google search trend data, has looked to determine the 10 most anticipated new game releases of January 2023. According to the study, the most-anticipated new game of January 2023 is theDead Spaceremake, which is scheduled to launch on January 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. In second place isMonster Hunter Rise, the PlayStation and Xbox port of theMonster Huntergame that was previously a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Third place goes to another re-release in the form of thenext-gen version ofDragon Ball Z Kakarot, but the fourth place position is for a new game. Square Enix’s open world action-RPGForspokenwill launch on January 24 for PC and PS5. Turn-based RPGOne Piece Odysseytook fifth place, with it set to launch on January 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Most Anticipated New Game Releases of January 2023
Persona 4 Golden, yet another re-release, found itself in sixth place, whereasAge of Empires 2: Definitive Editiontook seventh place. Something that may shock hardcore Nintendo fans is that theupcomingFire Emblem Engagehas apparently only drummed up enough interest to find itself in eighth place, withFears to FathomandColossal Cavetaking the ninth and tenth spots, respectively.
While Google search trend data is interesting to look at, it’s worth pointing out that it’s not necessarily a 100% indicator of which games people are looking forward to playing the most in January 2023. After all,Fire Emblem Engageis likely to be one of the bigger release of the month. Chances are good it will sell quite well and earn a great deal of critical acclaim, ifpreviousFire Emblemgamesare any indication.
On the other hand, it’s not surprising that theDead Spaceremake has managed to take the top spot. TheDead Spacefranchise has been dormant for 10 yearsand the original game launched a whopping 15 years ago, so it’s safe to say survival-horror fans are anxious for it to a make a comeback. Time will tell if theDead Spaceremake is enough to breathe new life into the franchise, but fans will find out later this month.
