Ever since it releasedBatman: Arkham Knightin 2015, fans have been patiently waiting to see the next game from Rocksteady Studios. Finally, Rocksteady officially announcedSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueas a next-generation co-op game. Now that the game has finally been announced, Rocksteady has confirmed that the trailer is indeed indicative of the four playable characters that will be available.
As seen in theSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguereveal trailer, the playable characters in the game are Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark, so some of the more common characters that pop up in theSuicide Squadcomic books. Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn were also featured in theSuicide Squadfilm adaptation (with King Shark set to appear in James Gunn’s upcomingThe Suicide Squadmovie), so it makes sense for these recognizable characters to be the main playable cast in theSuicide Squadvideo game.

TheSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguerelease date is not until 2022, though, so it’s possible that plans will change between now and the game’s launch. For example, it’s possible that Rocksteady could add even more playable characters to the mix to give fans more options, though that does seem unlikely.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis 4-player co-op, but fans have the option to play it solo if they so desire. Anyone that decides to playSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueon their own will be able to switch between the four different characters at will. Considering this, it seems unlikely that any additional playable characters will be added, as it could mess with the balance and make things a little too unwieldy for those playing by themselves.
But again, there’s still a lot that fans don’t know aboutSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which isn’t surprising since its release date is so far out. Other details that have been revealed include the fact thatSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis set in theBatman: Arkhamuniverse, it features Superman as the antagonist, and it will take place in Metropolis. The trailer strongly implies that famous Superman villain Brainiac will also be featured in the new game as well.
Rocksteady has only revealed a cinematic trailer forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueso far, and the 2022 release date means fans likely have a long wait ahead of them when it comes to seeing any gameplay. Rocksteady has set the bar high with theBatman: Arkhamseries, so hopefullySuicide Squadlives up to expectations.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewill launch in 2022 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
